If you, your brother and tenants sbll oppose the project, you must file a DiscreBonary Review (DR) applicabon for the project to be reviewed by the Commission (meebngs are currently booked out into October). Prior to submimng the DR applicabon, it is highly encouraged that you reach out to the project sponsor to discuss your concerns and work out a possible resolubon such as reducbon or shin in the roof deck locabon. If you choose to submit the DR applicabon, the deadline to file is July 25. The $562 fee is due at the Bme of applicabon submiral to the Planning InformaBon Center (PIC) along with everything else required per the checklist. I am also the resident living at 1716 Castro St. while the property at 1714 Castro St. is occupied by two residents who are tenants renting that property from my brother Michael and I. My brother and I as property owners of both 1714 and 1716 Castro St. are in receipt of a letter of Notice of Proposed Approval dated July 15, 2016 sent by the San Francisco Planning Department related to a proposed roof deck to be constructed on the property at 1712 Castro St. which I have referenced above. Additionally, the tenants living at 1714 Castro St. are also in receipt of the letter of Notice of Proposed Approval regarding the proposed roof deck construction at 1712 Castro Street. This letter is to notify you and the San Francisco Planning Department that both myself and my brother as property owners of 1714 and 1716 Castro St. and myself as resident of 1716 Castro St. are opposed to the construction of any deck of any type on the roof of 1712 Castro Street. Any such deck will adversely and seriously affect both of our properties at 1714 and 1716 Castro Street in a negative manner. As the resident living at 1716 Castro St. I am opposed to the construction of any deck of any type on the roof of 1712 Castro Street. Any such deck will adversely and seriously affect me in a negative manner. My brother and I as owners of the rental property at 1714 Castro St. believe that the construction of any deck of any type on the roof of 1712 Castro St. will adversely and seriously affect in a negative manner our tenants who rent our property located at 1714 Castro Street. My brother and I as property owners of the rental property at 1714 Castro St. have been notified verbally by our rental tenants at 1714 Castro St. that they are opposed to the construction of any deck of any type on the roof of 1712 Castro Street. Both tenants have advised my brother and I that they plan to follow up with their own appeal and request for hearing regarding the construction of a deck on the roof of 1712 Castro street. This letter is submitted to you and the Planning Department as official notification that my brother Michael and myself as property owners of 1714 and 1716 Castro St. formally appeal any such deck construction permit at of 4 1/9/17, 3:26 PM

Additionally as landlords of the rental property at 1714 Castro St. my brother and I submit the same formal request as we are legally, morally and professionally required and expected to do pertaining to our tenants residing at 1714 Castro Street. Construction of a deck of any type on the roof of 1712 Castro St. would cause and create multiple problems involving noise, lighting, privacy, intrusion and obstruction issues of great negative impact for the property owners, residents and renters of properties located at 1714 and 1716 Castro Street.
