The entrance gates to this corridor are a replica version of existing gates within the Guinness grounds, we propose steel gates with a steel mesh and integrated LED lighting. These gates will be locked in an open position during Guinness Storehouse opening hours, and locked closed each evening. 2.The walls,floor and ceiling of 'Universe in a Glass' will be painted black. We propose roppe skirting of a different colour for light contrast reasons. The portals of light will be done using LED strips imbedded into the walls and ceiling. They will be white with a coloured acrylic placed on top. The ceiling is stepped at various heights at each portal of light with its lowest at 2200mm and highest at 3200mm. There will be discreet LED emergency lighting in the ceiling. At the end of the first section of corridor there will be a slanted portal of light (in a false perspective) as a visual marker to turn left. It is proposed that introducing strips of lights on the walls and ceiling of the long corridor will light the corridor. This will provide visual interest and also create a suitable level of light for orientation. The floor of the second section of corridor will slope upwards in one ramp to a height of 200mm. The ceiling will follow the line of the ramp. 3.At the end of the corridor will be a pair of double doors opening outwards. These doors will be perforated to allow a pattern of light to penetrate. The doors will be automated to open when people approach. This will need override controls located in the bar. Behind these doors we propose a light box in the floor, ceiling and walls, allowing light through the perforated doors and illuminating the 'Universe in a Glass' as visitors approach the door. 4.The 'Fountain of Truth' is where the visitor will collect their Guinness sample (same as before), however the finishes in this room are proposed all to be white, with the exception of the bar counter which will be a monolithic black block, with a slight taper. There are 6no. false columns proposed, with scent oscillators in 4no. columns. The columns are to be constructed from preformed curved panels (alucabond or similar). This would create something that was geometrically accurate and robust. A raised floor across the whole room allows ventilation to be taken out the bottom of the columns and dealt with independently of the floor below. There is a lightbox proposed in the partitions

7 behind the bar counter (using fluorescent lighting), which will illuminate the whole room in a halo effect. 5.The proposed finishes in the 'Fountain of Truth' are a durable vinyl floor finish, with proposed full height independent stud partitions around the perimeter of the room painted white. These partitions will not touch the external wall, and will have vents at top and bottom, to allow air flow. The external windows will have a film applied to the glass to conceal views of the partitions from the outside. A white painted plasterboard plenum ceiling will drop down over the columns, and alay in mesh tile (white) at a higher level around the perimeter of the room. 6.Within the 'Velvet Chamber' the proposal is to use layers of milled medite to create acomplex wall surface which would then be flocked with velvet in situ (all black). The floor would be a stained pine and there will be a timber wainscoting detail to the lower area of the wall. The ceiling is proposed as a dropped coffered ceiling painted black. The lighting would be integrated into the ceiling and wall design. 7.The proposed 'Hall of Heroes' is the exhibit exit, where a Iightbox will be used on the ceiling to display the names of previous Guinness employees since records began. The names will be inverted and screen printed to create aseries of glowing names.
