As a senior at Cornell, Ed worked part-time for the assessor of the Town of Homer, New York doing reappraisal property inspections. Immediately after graduation, he accepted the full-time position with the Tompkins County Division of Assessment in Ithaca New York as Assistant Assessor. In 1976, he left county government to work for Ithaco Incorporated and over the next 6 years worked his way up to the position as Product Manager for the Ultrasound Products division. His work involved extensive worldwide travel in the support and marketing of the divisions product line. In 1983, Ed returned to local government and worked as chief commercial appraiser and then as Deputy Director for the Tompkins County Division of Assessment.
