PURPOSE OF APPLICATION The owners of the subject property received approval from the Committee of Adjustment on September 26, 2017 to construct a 57.6 square metre (620 square foot) 2 storey detached garage with an attached 24.2 square metre (260.5 square foot) lean-to with a maximum height of 8.4 metres. The owners have revised their proposal to change the Page 2 of 37 Page 1 of 3

3 lean-to to a covered porch, and wish to construct the structure closer to Hiscock Road. The proposed detached garage with covered porch requires the following variance: REQUESTED VARIANCE(S) TO THE ZONING BY-LAW Section 3.31(a)(iii) Relief of 7 metres (22.9 feet) from the required 20 metres (65.6 foot) setback from the centre of a County Road (County Rd 34) to allow for a 13 metre (42.7 foot) setback for the detached garage with attached covered porch. THE COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT The Committee of Adjustment is an independent body appointed by Council, under authority granted by the Province through the Planning Act. The Committee operates and follows procedures under the Statutory Powers and Procedure Act and various Provincial Regulations. The role of the Committee is to consider applications for minor variance and approve such applications having been satisfied that: the general intent and purpose of the Official Plan is maintained; the general intent and purpose of the Township s Zoning By-Law is maintained; the variance requested is minor; and the proposal is appropriate for the development of the land and/or building.
