3 WELCOME We are very pleased to welcome you to the 2016 Annual Conferences of The Workplace Network and The Public Real Estate Network. Having a joint meeting of the two networks for real property leaders gives us an opportunity to discuss common issues and to exchange information on many levels. More than 60 delegates and several invited guests from 21 countries will meet in Oslo. This year we have put emphasis on Smart Effective and Efficient Workplaces, digital solutions also through Building Information Models and Security. These issues are of importance to all of us. We look forward to listen to your inputs and to add your ex- perience into our own work. Exchange of experience and discussions across professional and national boundaries provide good opportunities for developing and improving the knowledge base. How we build and what we build are of major importance for the appearance and functioning of our cities and for how people live and work. The public authorities have a particular responsibility for showing the way and for ensuring that new buildings will meet the needs of future generations. The main topics of this conference include: building smarter, better public buildings and efficient office space solutions. These are important areas, which must be discussed if the buildings of today are to meet the needs of the future. I wish you all a good conference. Surrounded by beautiful islands and forested hills, the city of Oslo is situated at the end of one of s most scenic fjords the Oslo fjord. While in Oslo, I encourage you to take the time to wander in our city's streets, parks, forests or along the fjord, and you will get a feel for our capital s abundant history and character. Oslo is a city of variation and contrast. The art and cultural life today reflect the fact that the people of Oslo come from all over the country and from all parts of the world. This is why Oslo proudly sees itself as the city of the Nobel Peace Prize, as well as, of course, Munch's and Ibsen's city. Any day of the year you will discover that Oslo has a lot to offer in terms of concerts, sports events or other cultural events. Oslo is today a fast growing city, and so the continued development of high-quality, modern, inclusive and environmentally friendly buildings and city projects is of high importance. Much has happened in recent years, and a lot more is underway. Oslo will continue to seek inspiration and cooperation from all our partners, and we are a proud host of the 6th Oslo Architecture Triennale from September 8 to November 27. PhD in workplace design and management. Currently involved in the early phases, analysis, concepts and briefs for several large development projects for work and education. Consultant working with Statsbygg to develop the workplace concept for the New Governmental Quarters in Oslo. Marius Botten NORWEGIAN DEFENCE ESTATES AGENCY Senior Architect Architect MNAL Marius Botten is an architect and security adviser with the Norwegian Defense Estates agency and the National Centre for protection of buildings. He has worked with several projects with security aspects in the public sector and has a broad range of experience from housing and healthcare projects to special facilities for the Norwegian armed forces. Mats Stefan Carlin SINTEF Research Director SINTEF is s largest technology research institute with about employees. He has a MSc in electonics from NTNU in Trondheim () and a PhD in informatics from the University of Oslo, has worked 10 years as a scientist within computer vision and data analysis, 5 years as CTO in a start-up company and as research director at SINTEF for the last 9 years. Svein Olav Christensen NORWEGIAN DEFENCE ESTATES AGENCY Head of department Head of department for Protection at NDEA. Master degree in mechanical, combustion and thermodynamically engineering. 20 years experience from research and development within the effects of weapons and explosives on buildings and fortifications. Primarily focused on experimental and numerical studies of air blast generated from gaseous, metalized and condensed explosives and there effects on structures. Ingeborg Christoffersen NORWEGIAN DEFENCE ESTATE AGENCY Advisor Ingeborg Christoffersen (M.Sc) works at the department of Protection at the National Centre for Protection of Buildings. She mainly works with numerical studies of explosion load. In addition, she performs experimental studies of explosion effects and vulnerability studies for buildings. She also has experience from explosion risk analysis in the oil and gas industry.

She is an expert on structural response and works with design of various structures exposed to blast and other weapon effects. Esko Kilpi ESKO KILPI COMPANY Managing director Finland Esko Kilpi Compnay is a leading research firm focusing on the art of interaction, science of social complexity and the design of digital work. In addition to his work as an executive adviser Esko Kilpi lectures internationally on the topics of network-based view of the firm, Internet based business models and communication designs based on latest interaction technologies. Graham King CITY OF WESTMINSTER Town planner United Kingdom Graham King is a town planner specialising in historic building, public realm and transportation issues and has worked for the City of Westminster in London since During that time as well as dealing with major transport schemes, Crossrail, new foot and road bridges and major redevelopment schemes he has also been responsible for public realm policy and coordination of major schemes. Lutz Köppen EUROPEAN COMMISSION, DG GROW Policy Officer Clean Technologies & Products Belgium He has worked at the European Commission for five years now, after a career in the private and public sectors. He has spent many years in France in the consulting, automotive and media sectors as well as the telecoms and defence industries. He has an engineering and business administration background which he acquired in the US and from various European universities. Patrick MacLeamy buildingsmart INTERNATIONAL HOK Chairman USA After 13 years as CEO, Patrick transitioned to HOK Chairman in April In this role, he advises the Executive Committee and Board of Directors on the strategic vision and direction of the firm. Prior to becoming CEO, Patrick held leadership roles in design, project management, marketing and management. He was the co-founder and managing principal of HOK San Francisco.

Co-founder of the international consultancy firm ICOP and a senior researcher at the Center for Facilities Management in Copenhagen. He is involved in workplace projects in the Netherlands, Scandinavia, the US and the Middle East. Consultant working with Statsbygg to develop the workplace concept for the New Governmental Quarters in Oslo. Nigel Oseland WORKPLACE UNLIMITED Director United Kingdom Dr Nigel Oseland is an environmental psychologist, workplace strategist, change manager and researcher. He applies his expertise in human behaviour to assist in designing spaces that enhance collaboration, creativity and concentration whilst being cost-effective. Nigel has helped corporate clients throughout EMEA and worked with central and local government bodies in the UK. Nikolaisen has held several positions in various industries and in the construction sector; among others in the Norwegian Government s Agency for Railway Services (Jernbaneverket) as well as Norsk Hydro ASA, Dovre International AS and Statoil. The government hubs programme is the biggest estates and culture change programme in a generation. It will reduce the number of civil service office buildings from around 800 to approximately 200 by 2023 whilst simultaneously upgrading the estate including the creation of circa major cross-government strategic hubs across the UK.
