The Portland metro area is well served by an outstanding public transit system that is centered around light rail lines and buses. The downtown core is served by the Portland Streetcar. The 3.9-mile NS Line runs from Northwest Portland to the South Waterfront via Downtown and the Pearl District. The Loop Service, which opened in September 2012 as the Central Loop (CL Line), runs from Downtown to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry via the Pearl District, the Broadway Bridge across Willamette River, the Lloyd District, and the Central Eastside Industrial District and added 3.3 miles of route. In September 2015 the line was re branded as the Loop Service, with the A Loop traveling clockwise, and the B Loop traveling counter clockwise. The two-route system serves some 20,000 daily riders. The MAX system are the light rail lines which currently consists of five lines, each line is designated by an unique color. The system currently stretches 60 miles with a total of 97 stations with an average 116,800 riders per day. The Portland Aerial Tram is a public and operated as part of Portland s public transportation network.
