In particular, she has investigated the effects of human activities on the structure and functions of benthic communities, and on the geographical dispersion of species, with focus on small invertebrates (amphipod and isopod crustaceans). In collaboration with numerous national and international colleagues, AM has provided relevant contributions to the research on marine bioinvasions and participated to the creation and development databases on marine alien species of global relevance. The complex nature of the investigated environmental problems has lead AM to use alternative mathematical approaches, such as fuzzy logic, that integrate traditional quantitative measures with qualitative variables linked to human perception (for example, attributes of quality, vulnerability, risk). AM has produced 45 peer-reviewed articles and 3 book chapters on these topics. She is co-editor of the two most recent Italian editions (8 th and 9 th ) of the best-seller academic textbook Elements of Ecology by T.M. Smith & R.L. Smith (Pearson Publisher). Her research has been presented at 52 scientific conferences (23 international). Researcher performance The bibliometric indicators of Agnese Marchini scientific production are shown in Tab. I.
