1 Advanced Theories of Architecture M & 350R Post-Professional Seminar Instructor: Dr Danilo Udovčki-Selb (In collaboration with Larry Allan Doll) Wednesdays 7:00 pm 10:00 pm BTL 101 Office: BTL Land Phone: Cell Phone: Office Hours: Thursdays 3:30 pm 5 pm (Or by appointment) PRE-REQUISITE Admission to the M Arch2 program or special permission of instructors Students with disabilities (physical or cognitive) may request appropriate academic accommodations from the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, Services for Students with Disabilities, , EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES The seminar will be taught in coordination with Prof Larry Doll) The first part of the course (September) will be conceived as a broad introductory theoretical / conceptual framework for the explorations that Prof. Doll will be leading in the Second Part of the seminar directly applied to contemporary architecture. ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION This class is a seminar and it requires that every student participate in the discussions every week. If you must miss a class because of trips in other classes or extreme illness you will need to notify me in advance and make up the work. More than two absences (excused or not) will constitute grounds for dropping or failure of the class. Absences due to religious creeds must be declared to the instructor at the start of semester On the Tuesdays before each class you should post a question about the readings by 10:00 am on the discussion board of the Black Board, so that each student get familiarized with the issues each student raised. You will also be responsible for writing weekly a one page critical report (or abstract) about the readings. You will send it to my attention at selb@mail.utexas.edu by 10:00am on the same day. GRADING POLICY: Required Regular Attendance and Participation in Discussions. (Considered in determining of grade: 50%). Weekly Reading Reports and Question (Considered in determining of grade: 50%). A Reader will be available for purchase at he Dobbie Mall.
