1 Brazil-Caeni-EU Newsletter August 2016 For our Issues Debate concerning the implications of Brexit for the EU-Brazil partnership, this coming 15 September, we welcome Prof. Laura Ferreira-Pereira, University of Minho, Portugal together with Dr. Daniele Bianchi, European Commission Legal Service, who is currently a research Fellow at IBE, here at USP. This afternoon will kick off with a Keynote Lecture by Prof. Laura Ferreira-Pereira, who will outline the Brazil-EU relationship against today s backdrop of the United Kingdom s exit from the European Union. Dr. Daniele Bianchi, currently Fellow at IBE/USP, will then introduce the 3 multilateral agreements: TTIP, WTO, TPP. The event ends with a focus on global security from the perspective of EU foreign and security policy by Prof. Kai Lehmann, of IRI/USP. Caeni s Issues Debates extend Caeni s Executive Trainings in International Negotiations to reach out beyond our traditional audience to business, civil society, government officials, students and academics of all levels and disciplines, and the press. To cater to this broader audience, the speakers take the time to provide participants with selective introductions to the issues, and give them a grasp of the context and issues arising in current topics arising in the Brazil- European Union relationship. It is organized by the Department of International and Comparative Law within USP s Faculty of Law, together with the Martius Chair for German and European Studies within the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences, and sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German House for Research and Innovation in São Paulo (DWIH-SP). Within the Jornadas Europeias, Prof. Rafael Diniz Pucci of the Department of Philosophy and General Theory of Law, is teaming up with Prof. Kirstyn Inglis of the Brasil-C-EU project here at IRI, to conduct this workshop. The aim is to assess, in interdisciplinary perspective, the multiple facets of environmental problems affecting contemporary societies, starting with the EU and Brazil perspectives. 2
