Nos : Fondo nero argento a canne corallo. In the late 1920s, Fratelli Toso gradually embraced contemporary modernity. In touch with the times, the factory introduced new Novecento forms and employed techniques widely used on Murano during that period. 7 Nos : Developed by Pollio Perelda in 1957, the Cattedrale series never formed part of the commercial output of the glass plant. Reference: draft commemorative publication 110th anniversary of Fratelli Toso, Nos : Murrine moderni designed by Ermanno Toso, Pollio Perelda and Renato Toso prior to 1964 but produced at a much later date. In 1964 Aldo Toso (at the time co-manager of the company, together with Ermanno Toso) made a draft for a publication to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Fratelli Toso. It would have highlighted the most important series by Ermanno Toso and Pollio Perelda, and it included their modern murrine patterns. Significant is the statement in his introduction that the silent understanding between Ermanno and Perelda with their master blowers did not necessitate precise drawings. In fact these murrine were only used to create one-offs, and their forms were determined by the blower, directly at the furnace. Created for exhibitions or upon request, none of these ever entered the model books. This type of production by Ermanno and Perelda was not commercialised until late in the twentieth century, when the company employed some of their former master blowers to reuse the murrine in response to a demanding market. 104 Millepunti, H 31.5 cm.
