Goods sold included confiscated items from theft, credit card fraud and cross-border smuggling cases, as well as lost items turned over by the public and old police equipment. More than 3,000 items sold on that day included diamonds, designer handbags and even cars. Bargain hunters bought diamond rings for under $500, digital cameras for $30 and laptops for $400. Sale proceeds from the auctions are surrendered to the government consolidated fund administrated by the Ministry of Finance. Collective sale of Telok Kurau View sold before Auction With the enbloc fever inching up, Knight Frank Auction (Residential) was appointed by 11 owners of Telok Kurau View to conduct a collective sale by auction late last year. The development is a 3-storey walk- up block, which sits on 17,337 sq ft of freehold land. However, before the property was put up for auction, it was sold at $16 million to a local developer. 15 KnightFrank.com.sg auction (commercial) Auction of Duty Unpaid Wines, for the Official Receiver, as liquidators of a company Knight Frank Auction (Commercial) is proud to add auction of fine wines as another aspect to commercial auction in our growing list of accomplishments. In November 2010, the Insolvency and Public Trustee s Office (IPTO) appointed the team to conduct the wine auction. The public auction featured wines from limited lots of First Growth classifications from France and Australia (e.g Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Penfolds Grange), amongst others. The auction was conducted on 26 November 2010 and attracted many interested parties from wine traders to wine collectors. New price benchmark for GCB at Astrid Hill The Government of Japan appointed Knight Frank for the tender sale of a 2-storey Good Class Bungalow at Queen Astrid Park, which was formerly occupied by the ambassador of Japan. With its elevated, regular-shaped land and convenient location near Holland Road, it drew more than one dozen bidders when the tender closed on 18 November The highest bid stood at $28,618,000 translating to about $1,511 psf for the land area of 18,939 sq ft. With these restrictive measures slowing residential property investments to a trawl, many investors are looking towards commercial property as another option of investment, particularly HDB shophouses. On 20 January 2011, Knight Frank s auction was testament to the after effects where 3 HDB shophouses were snapped up in the midst of vigorous bidding. With demand trending up, many sellers have become more optimistic in their price expectations. Despite the price gap between buyers and sellers, many buyers remain attracted to HDB shops in town and populous neighbourhood centers. Further buyer activities are supported by the government s continued efforts to revitalize HDB heartlands, the availability of bank financing and the potential growth in capital and rental values will support further buying activities.
