Life in Paisley Paisley Abbey As one of the largest towns in Scotland, Paisley is well known for its rich history and striking architecture. As the centre of the weaving and textile industry in the 19th century, it grew from a small market town to an important industrial city, with over 100 mills producing the famous Paisley shawls. Nowadays, all the mills are closed but several of the buildings themselves remain, and relics from them and examples of the garments produced can be seen in the Paisley Museum. Indeed, the iconic teardrop-like Paisley pattern has become a symbol of the town, adopted by the local authority. Ashwood Court is located on Victoria Road, in the leafy Corsebar area to the south west of the town centre. Public transport links are excellent with bus stops less than 100m away, offering regular services into the town centre. The bus terminus at the nearby Royal Alexandra Hospital also offers several routes further afi eld. Shopping facilities and local services can be found just over a mile away, with a small number of local shops available within half a mile. Paisley town centre is home to two shopping centres with a variety of high street stores and smaller independent outlets available. Leisure pursuits are well catered for in Paisley with cricket, bowls and golf clubs all close by. In addition, there is a large leisure centre and swimming pool on the edge of the town centre, while keen walkers are sure to enjoy the scenery of Glennifer Braes Country Park.
