Towneley Park Benches This record of the memorial and commemorative benches in Towneley Park was compiled in April 2013 and updated in August 2013. It can be used as a walk around the park, started outside the Stables Café and around the front of the Hall, before moving by way of the path between the South Wing and the Italian Garden to the path behind the Hall and up Lime Avenue to Foldys Cross. The old lane then takes you to the bowling green at Causeway End and back by the West Walk to the bowling green in the Kitchen Garden. Notice that by August 2013, one oak bench had been moved from outside the Hall into the Parks compound and had been replaced by a newly painted bench not seen in April. It seems likely that other benches will be refurbished and moved around on a regular basis. There are a few more memorial benches scattered around the Park in Thanet Lee Wood. There is a solitary bench in the Wilderness, opposite Burnley's oldest tree.
