P A G E 2 Ryan Zink, MAI Chapter President August meeting will be at the Citrus Club in downtown Orlando and will include dinner, cash bar and live band. President s Message Market activity continues to pick-up pace in 2015 and the Appraisal Institute continues to remain active on the Chapter, Regional, and National Levels. The next East Florida Chapter Meeting is fast approaching on April 17 th and will be held at the Sheraton Orlando North. The meeting will be during the lunch-break of the Appraising Condos, Co-ops and PUDs class and the guest speaker will be Ryan J. Lefkowitz, Vice President, Acquisitions Officer, Avanti Properties Group. The August 21st meeting will be held at the Citrus Club in downtown Orlando and will include dinner, cash bar, and a live band. While there will be a short meeting to conduct official Chapter business, there will not be a guest speaker at the August dinner meeting. This meeting will be focused a r o u n d n e t w o r k i n g, socializing with peers, and just having a good time. We encourage all members to bring their spouse, guest, and/or client to this meeting to enjoy what should be a great night. Back by popular demand from those who attended the November 2014 Chapter Meeting, Folk University will be returning to play songs from the 1960 s through today. The band will be led by Michael Twitty, MAI, and hopefully there will also be some songs accompanied by James Cooksey, MAI. As mentioned in the previous newsletter, it is my personal goal this year to f u r t h e r d e v e l o p t h e relationships between the Appraisal Institute and all colleges and universities in the State of Florida that offer real estate degree programs. On April 14 th, the East Florida Chapter will host the 5 th Annual - Expert Appraiser Panel at the University of Central Florida (UCF). This program has been well received by the staff and students and consists of a panel of five speakers, all of which who specialize in different lines of work in the appraisal profession. The 2015 panel members are as follows: Moderator & Overview of the Appraisal Institute Ryan L. Zink, MAI General Commercial Appraiser Chris Starkey, MAI Residential Appraiser Nicholas Pilz, MAI, SRA, AI- RRS Litigation & Eminent Domain Walter Carpenter, MAI Bank Reviewer Hal Katz Over the past year, the East Florida Chapter has also been represented at the differ ent r eal estate conferences held by Florida State University (FSU), University of Florida (U of F), and the University of Central Florida (UCF). The Chapter representation at these conferences is part of the Regi on X Uni ver si ty Relations Committee, which has been very active over the past year. The most recent conference attended was the University of Florida 2015 Real Estate Trends Conference, which was held on February 26 th and 27 th at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. This was a great event and the East Florida Chapter is so fortunate that much of the success was from the direct efforts from one of our own members, Angela Brown, MAI. Angela was Vice-Chair of the 2015 R e al E s t a t e T r en d s Conference Committee and continues to do a great job representing not only the Appraisal Institute, but the appraisal profession in general. Angie!!! Thanks so much If you are interested in joining the University Relations Committee, please contact me as there are a number of ways to contribute. As I have become more involved with the Appraisal Institute at the Regional and National meetings, I am continually reminded of how great the East Florida Chapter is. We have a w o n d e r f u l E x e c u t i v e Director, Lauren Dowling, and the level of volunteer participation from our membership is outstanding. I truly appreciate all of those who continue to volunteer their time to make this Chapter what it is. If anyone from the membership has a n y c o m m e n t s o r suggestions, please feel to c o n t a c t m e a t ryan.zink@cap-val.com 407-781-0233. or E A S T F L O R I D A C H A P T E R
