DESCRIPTION The castle stands on the northern side of one of the hills surrounding the Piacenza valley, 300 meters above sea level and thirty kilometers from the city, in a splendid panoramic position. Its location is due to the desire for domination of the feudal lords and the need to control the roads from the Po reaching the Apennine passes. Peculiar characteristics of the building are the mole, the dominant position, the organization of the feud that in the centuries after its construction have made it a place of cultural ferment and house full of valuable works. According to a peremptory scholar, the building is no longer late in 1412. With its square towers, the Castle is an exception among the castles of the province of Piacenza. Originally intended as a fortress, it undertook several changes to adapt it to new residential needs and the social prestige attained by noble families who made their usual residence. The building is closed to the south-east and south-west and supported, north-east and north-west by a high containment wall. Very suggestive is the large garden with trees overlooking the terrace on the plain towards Piacenza. The building has rectangular plant with five towers and a square. The four towers are located at the corners of the fort and near the main entrance. The entrance leads to the hall that, with sense of perspective, leads the visitor to various parts of the court to reach the grand staircase. When you go up to the noble floor there is a new perspective articulating the court. On the court, both overlook the arcades and the loggias. These spaces are decorated with pictorial representations exploiting the spatial dimensions of the courtyard itself. The staircase and the interior on the first floor are the sign on the size of the families that lived in this place. In them you can feel the desire to change the destination of the castle, from fortress to palace, to cater for the new residential needs, by creating sumptuous environments and elegant style. The church has considerable importance. It has three naves with barrel vaults, joined to the oval shaped dome. The other special features are the presence of a double altar, mounted on different levels in the apse, the relics of the martyr San Felice placed in a precious reliquary of wood and glass. The property includes a barn, three rural buildings and 5 hectares of land.
