Biografie van Jan Botes Jan Botes is in Excelsior gebore, daar groot geword en skool gegaan. Vir die van julle wat nie weet waar dit is nie, dis n klein plattelandse dorpie so n uur se ry van Bloemfontien af. Hier was Jan ook deel van die skoolkoor, nie net het Jan n groot liefde vir sing gehad nie, hy het ook vir die skool rugby gespeel. Die skoolkoor het ook met geleenthede in die plaaslike Kerk opgetree. Na skool, met geen musikale loopbaan in die vooruitsig nie, het hy eers by die Poskantoor sentrale gewerk (nommer asseblief). Jan verlaat die sentrale om sy diensplig te gaan doen. Na sy diensplig het Jan se lewenspad met hom n hele paar kronkels geloop. Deurentyd het sy liefde vir sing nie verflou nie, dit was soos n brandende vuurtjie in hom, die gogga wat hy nie kon stil nie. Die gogga het hom behoorlik beet gekry toe hy een van die Drie Tenore se vertonings bygewoon het. Na die onvergeetlike vertoning was daar geen keer nie. Jan het besluit om aan die groot droom van hom te werk. Jan het sy stemtoets by Chris Coetzer, van ons Eie Drie Tenore met lof geslaag. Hy het by een van Chris se musiekskole Cantate aangesluit waar hy onder leiding van Pieter Oberholzer van die Grafsteensangers, sy sangmeester, sanglesse geneem het om so sy stem te bevorder. Hier het hy aan huiskonserte deelgeneem. In Junie 2006 neem hy deel aan die CC Studios Eisteddfod waar hy met 2 A s en 2 B plusse wegstap. In dieselfde jaar neem hy ook deel aan die Tehila & Jubilate waar hy ook onderskeidelik met n pragtige 85% en 82% wegstap. Aardklop 2007, tree Jan op by die Klip-innie-bos verhoog, hy deel ook die verhoog met van ons land se ander wonderlike kunstenaars soos Pieter Koen, Fredi Nest en nog vele meer. Verwerf n trofee in 2009 vir Beste opkomende Kunstenaar. In 2014 was Jan Botes n finalis in die Infinity Dimi Toekennings en het 3de plek verower. Jan skryf ook sy eie liedjies, dis moeilik om altyd te sê waar en wanneer die woorde uit sy pen vloei. Wat ons wel weet, is dat die liedjie, ANGEL IN THE SKY vir sy lieflike vrou geskryf is. DOEF DOEF is geskryf omdat so baie mense in die oggende oppad werk toe ry so mismoedig lyk agter die stuurwiel en Jan wil daardie mense uit hulle stoele lig om hulle te verlig van hulle droewigheid in die verkeer. EK DANK DIE HEER is geskryf spesifiek vir verliefde paartjies wat ewige trou aan mekaar beloof en nog steeds net so verlief is soos daardie eerste dag. GEVIND is geskryf vir persone wat mekaar bietjie verloor het in die huwelik of verhouding en mekaar weer gevind het met n nuwe toekoms. SIR LOWRY S PAS kry sy oorspong toe hy in Febuarie 2007 vakansie hou heelbo op die berg, daar het hy met die prag van die Kaap kennis gemaak waar die ink uit sy pen geloop het, met die see aan die een kant en Steenbras dam aan die ander kant, en mis wat oor die kranse kruip. Dus wag daar n ongelooflike toekoms op hom, en vir ons, wonderlike musiek om na te luiser. Jan se liefde en nog groter aptyd vir musiek, is lank nog nie klaar nie, ons kan nie wag om te sien en te hoor wat hy volgende vir ons gaan bring nie. 2018 JB Music 3

Biography of Jan Botes Jan Botes was born in Excelsior where he grew up and went to school, for those who do not know where this small town is, it is situated near Bloemfontein. Jan Botes was part of the school choir and this was not his only passion, he also loved to play rugby for his school. The school choir also performed in the local Church. After school without a musical career in the future he stated his career in the Post Office as a switchboard operator (number please). After working for a couple of months he went for his Military Service. After completing his Military Service his life took him on bumpy rides, thou all of this his big passion for his music never die as this was always a burning desire in his heart. After attending a concert of our Own Three Tenors which was the wood that was added to his burning desire and love for music, there was NO stopping in him as the flames was burning higher. He decided to make his dreams come true. He had his voice tested by Chris Coetzer of CC Studios and he did pass this with flying colours. He then joined one of the CC Studios schools named Cantate with Pieter Oberholzer of the Grafsteensangers as his music master. He also participated in the schools house concerts and entered into the CC Studios Eisteddfod where he achieved 2 A s and 2 B+ and in the same year he participated in the Tehila & Jubilate where he achieved 82% and 85% for his songs performed. He also performed at Aardklop 2007 on the Klipdrift Klip innie-bos stage where he shared the stage with some of our Country s most popular artists like Pieter Koen, Fredi Nest and many more. Received a trophy in 2009 for the Best Upcoming Artist. In 2014 Jan Botes was a finalist at the Infinity Dimi Awards and walked away with the 3 rd place. Jan does write his own songs and where and when this happen is difficult to say as the inspiration cannot be predicted. What we do know is that ANGEL IN THE SKY was written for his loving wife. The inspiration for DOEF DOEF came when Jan was stuck in traffic and he looked around him to the people that looked sad and not inspired by life, he wanted to give them something that lift them out of their chairs and put the beat back into their life s. EK DANK DIE HEER was written for loving couples and people that declared their love to one another for ever and for those who are still in love and happily married.. GEVIND was written for people that lost each other in their marriage or relationship and found each other again with a new future. SIR LOWRY S PAS what an amazing inspiration was this when Jan was on holiday in February 2007 and where else would one find a more beautiful place than the Hottentots mountains near Gordon s Bay in the Cape Province where you have the ocean on the one side and the Steenbra s Dam on the other, it was here on top of the mountain where the mist crawl over the top of the mountain and there was no end to what came out of Jan s pen that morning. There awaits a wonderful and existing future on Jan and his music career and his music is something that we can look forward to. Radio Onderhoude Radio Interviews Jan was genader deur Dr. Ben Booysens van Trans Wêreld Radio om n onderhoud met hom te voer waar dit deur 2700 radio stasies uitgesaai was en daar was ook van sy eie geskryfde liedjies tydens die onderhoud gespeel. Jan was ook genader deur Genie van Impala Internet Radio in Windhoek tydens sy besoek en optrede by n Plaaslike Laerskool. Van Jan se liedjies was ook op Radio Pretoria te hoor asook op Impala Internet Radio Stasie (Wêreldwyd) en Uitsaaines saam met Andre Oliphant. Jan was approached by Dr. Ben Booysens of Trans World Radio for an interview and it was been broadcast over 2700 outlets country wide. During the interview some of his own written songs was played. Some of Jan s songs was also heard on Radio Pretoria and also on Impala Internet Radio Station (Worldwide) and Uitsaaines with Andre Oliphant. Jan was also approached by Genie of Impala Internet Radio in Windhoek with his visit and performance at a Local Primary School. 2018 JB Music 5
