WHY A NEW BUILDING New York Times previous buildings in Times Square 1 Times Square 43 rd Street New needs for the New York Times To bring most of our 2,500 Manhattan based employees under one roof Enhance the workplace culture and productivity by breaking down barriers between upper management and staff Serve our long term operational needs as an owner and user Create a design to reflect the value of the company and our role in the community and provide a visible organization to the public Strategy to partner with Forest City Ratner Council on Tall Buildings We had strong ideas and goal for our new home, but building a Class A office building was not our core business.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS New York Times: The flexible design of the typical tower floors readily accommodated the wide ranging functional differences of the various New York Times s business units.
