UNIVERSITY PROFILE TRANSFORMING EDUCATION... TRANSFORMING LIVES The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) was formed on 18 November 2010 through the merger of the University of Wales Lampeter and Trinity University College Carmarthen, under Lampeter s Royal Charter of 1828. On the 1 August 2013, Swansea Metropolitan University became part of UWTSD. The University s Royal Charter is the oldest in Wales and England after the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. In 2011 His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales became its Royal Patron. The UWTSD Group includes Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion as part of a dual sector group structure comprising further education colleges and the university. The UWTSD Group has over 25,000 learners across 15 campuses in rural and city locations. Together we deliver clear, tangible benefits for learners, employers, industry and communities by offering a vocational approach from entry level to post-doctoral research. The Group will be further strengthened with the merger of University of Wales into UWTSD in due course. The University s main campuses are situated in various locations in and around Swansea s city centre as well as in the rural towns of Lampeter and Carmarthen in South West Wales. The Wales International Academy of Voice, under the Directorship of Dennis O Neill with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa as its patron, is located in Cardiff and in addition the University has a campus in London for international students. Professor Medwin Hughes, DL, Vice Chancellor Launch of the Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) This Annual Report looks back at the academic year 2015-16, a year in which the University of Wales Trinity Saint David made great strides towards transforming the educational landscape in South West Wales. The University of Wales Trinity Saint David was created to provide a new civic university appropriate to the needs of Wales in the 21st Century. From the outset, the vision of the transformed University was to promote excellence in scholarship, learning, teaching and applied research, through which the University would make a significant contribution to the knowledge economy and social innovation in the region. Today, the UWTSD Group, which includes Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion as constituent colleges, has positioned itself as a catalyst for economic, social and cultural growth across the Swansea Bay City Region and beyond. The UWTSD Group s reach across the region is undoubtedly a key strength and enables us to work with employers and partners to ensure the relevance of our curriculum for the current and future workforce in Wales, the UK and further afield. We embarked on the academic year 2015-16 having received the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education s report of its Institutional Review of the University which confirmed the quality and standards of our provision. During the year, we also celebrated our achievement against the Investors in People (IIP) standards which highlighted the University s focus on the student experience. The assessors noted that The mission of Transforming education, transforming lives has truly inspired people and encouraged the student focus across the university. Both of these excellent reports provided a solid platform from which to grow and develop our strategic themes throughout the year. Colleagues within the UWTSD Group continued to collaborate on providing multi-disciplinary and joint initiatives from the validation of new programmes and progression routes to student conferences and recruitment events. An exciting development involving the Group and other FE partners was securing a ground-breaking 6.5m Wales-wide agreement with the Construction Industry Training Board to establish the Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) to offer state-of- the-art facilities and world-class training for individuals and construction companies. With its proposed headquarters at the Swansea Waterfront Innovation Quarter, the CWIC will also have sites at colleges across Wales, including Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion, as well as Coleg Cambria in North Wales and Coleg y Cymoedd in South East Wales. Canolfan S4C Yr Egin The continued development of the Swansea Waterfront Innovation Quarter was a key priority. Planning permission was granted for the delivery of Phase 1 of the 300 million development for the building work to begin this autumn for new buildings for the Library and Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering, as well as associated central teaching and faculty space which will be completed by 2018. In addition, the development of Canolfan S4C Yr Egin on the Carmarthen campus also moved on apace and the planning application for the inspirational building was submitted to Carmarthenshire County Council in July. Both of these major initiatives have established the blue-print for future developments in which the University will co-locate with such professional partners as the CITB, OSTC, and NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) in Swansea and S4C and the creative industries in Carmarthen to exploit knowledge and expertise to our mutual benefit. Together the University and its partners will

The University s response to the Welsh Government s New Deal for Teachers, the publication of the Teaching Tomorrow s Teachers Report by Professor John Furlong, and The Successful Futures: The Independent Review of Curriculum and Assessment Arrangements in Wales by Professor Graham Donaldson, was to launch an Education Pledge. The pledge included a commitment to establish Yr Athrofa the Institute of Education, which was launched in June and which has three elements - a Professional Learning Partnership involving over 100 schools from across Wales and UWTSD, Centres of Research Excellence in key areas: equity in education; Welsh language and culture; and early years education as well as the Wales Education Commission which brings together distinguished individuals from across the globe who are considered leading thinkers with a record of outstanding success in their own fields of education. During the year we also launched a distinctive health and wellbeing offer linked to the Welsh Government s The Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) 2015 Act, which became law in 2016, and involving cross-faculty curriculum development. The University s location across the region provides opportunities to work with health professionals across South West Wales on developing programmes to meet their specific needs. For example, the Carmarthen campus long tradition for bilingual teaching, social care, physical literacy and early childhood provides a strong foundation for collaboration with a wide variety of partners interested in rural health issues. In Lampeter, we are developing a partnership with Schumacher College to create a more reflective environment where people can undertake a range of programmes building on the expertise of the Faculty of Humanities to create a vision for a 21st Century health and wellbeing service in a rural context. Other developments on the Lampeter campus saw a range of initiatives which build on the campus long history as a world centre for multi-faith and multi-cultural study, and which gave us the opportunity to explore areas of research and to expand into other academic disciplines which demonstrate our common values and promote cultural harmony. The University signed an agreement with the King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies in March which will lead to both institutions working together to develop academic and research links building on common interests as well as a project entitled Visual Cultures of Wales: The Islamic Perspective, under the directorship of Dr Abdulrahman Alzaagy and Professor Martin O Kane. The work builds upon the Imaging the Bible in Wales project led by Professor O Kane with colleagues from the University of Wales and the National Library of Wales, of religious images from the Bible which are displayed in insitutions across Wales. In May the University signed an agreement with the Chin Kung Multicultural Educational Foundation, a Hong Kong based organisation, established by Master Chin Kung, a Buddhist monk whose core belief is that all religions share a common, universal element of shared values, toleration, compassion and a respect for the views and beliefs of others. The Agreement will see major investment into the infrastructure of the campus as well as the establishment of the Academy of Sinology, which was launched in July as part of the first International Interfaith Symposium for Harmony and World Peace. His Royal Highness, Prince Charles and Professor Medwin Hughes, DL UWTSD s Harmony Professors of Practice, Professor Medwin Hughes, DL and Dr Jane Davidson We also launched a range of initiatives on the theme of Harmony and welcomed His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, Patron of the University, to take part in a special ceremony celebrating the Prince s commitment to sustainability and harmony. For more than forty years, His Royal Highness has been actively engaged in crafting a narrative which has transformed our society. The leadership and clarity of thought demonstrated in his speeches and articles signifies a deep sense of duty and a readiness to speak out in order to instigate cultural, social, environmental and economic change. We were therefore delighted to open a new exhibition on the campus which features excerpts from his speeches and articles between 1968 and 2012, which have been edited in two volumes by Professor David Cadman and Suheil Bushrui and published by the University of Wales Press. His Royal Highness also presented five Harmony Professors of Practice to Professor David Cadman, an urban land economist and writer, Juliet Davenport, CEO of Good Energy, one of the UK s first 100% renewable electricity supply and generator companies, Peter Davies, the first independent chair of the Climate Change Commission for Wales, Tony Juniper, an independent sustainability and environmental adviser, and John Sauven, Executive Director of Greenpeace UK, for their outstanding contribution to sustainability in the UK. As we now move forward to the next phase in our journey and the impending merger with the University of Wales, we look confidently to the future with a clear strategic plan which places emphasis upon applied learning, strong academic disciplines and a commitment to innovation, enterprise and knowledge transfer. We believe that the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is the Connected University; connected through a range of strategic partnerships that we have developed at regional, national and international level which serve to inspire our learners, staff and partners. Our connections extend to public, private and voluntary sector employers who are working us to develop relevant programmes and activities to maximise opportunities for jobs growth and investment in the region and in Wales. The University has a clear national profile delivering for Wales and celebrating its distinctiveness on a UK and international stage. As I look back on the year 2015-2016, I am proud that the work that has been achieved will make a difference to the lives of individuals and communities in South West Wales and further afield. Collectively, as governors and colleagues within the UWTSD Group, we have set in motion true transformational change through our readiness to embrace new models of higher level skills delivery which respond to the needs of Wales. This Annual Report provides a snapshot of the achievements of staff and students during the year. I am grateful to them, and the University s Governing Body, for their continued and valued support and look forward as we strive to further secure the future for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David for generations to come. The University of Wales Trinity Saint David System will transform the delivery of higher education and training in Wales. Central to this new model will be the establishment of a new sustainable planning framework that will encompass, nurture, stimulate, and promote the development of coherent educational pathways across a wide range of institutions OUR DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS We are a University that: adds value to the learning experience through a distinctive system-based approach that combines traditional higher education with vocational, professional and academic research activities, delivered with academic rigour; offers a well-defined undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum, which delivers distinctive graduate attributes in the areas of employability, enterprise, sustainable education and global citizenship; is dedicated to realising the potential of each individual student and to supporting students at all stages of their education; is pioneering new approaches to work-based learning and professional practice that enhance workforce and enterprise capabilities; and is committed to all aspects of sustainable development. A SNAPSHOT OF THE YEAR A New Education System for Wales Coleg Sir Gar (August 2013) and Coleg Ceredigion (January 2014) formally merged with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David creating exciting new routes from further education into higher education in South and West Wales. These pioneering mergers were completed from a position of great strength, with all three institutions being at the forefront of developments in vocational and academic education and research, education for sustainable development and the Welsh language. The mergers took forward the innovative educational group structure, incorporating both further and higher education, known as the Dual Sector University, the only one of its kind in Wales. Plans for New University Development on SA1 Swansea Waterfront Plans to create a vibrant new multi-million pound university development in Swansea were announced in January 2014 following an agreement by the Welsh Government to sell six substantial development plots on SA1 Swansea Waterfront to UWTSD. Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: The vision for SA1 Swansea Waterfront has always been to create a dynamic new quarter a real community with a range of local services and facilities and a place where people work and live. Plans for this new development will contribute to the overall mixed use nature of this major regeneration scheme and should add vibrancy to the overall development. It will provide the University with the opportunity to develop modern purpose designed teaching facilities for students and staff and enable it to develop closer links with local businesses for the benefit of the economy. Professor Medwin Hughes, UWTSD Vice-Chancellor, said: This prime waterfront location in the heart of the city will transform the educational experience for staff and students. It will enable UWTSD Swansea to provide a vibrant city experience, connecting academia with innovation, enterprise, businesses and the community. The Relocation of S4C to Carmarthenshire In March 2014, following a competitive process, the S4C Authority confirmed that the Channel s headquarters would be relocated to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David s campus in Carmarthen. Canolfan S4C Yr Egin will be an innovative development located within a striking and iconic building on the outskirts of the ancient town of Carmarthen. This will be a centre that will stimulate ideas and connections while nurturing talent and sharing resources - a creative melting-pot for practitioners and entrepreneurs from a variety of disciplines. The centre will be open from the first quarter of 2018. Greatest Increase in Student Satisfaction Levels at UWTSD The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is delighted with recent NSS results which have seen an improvement in the overall student satisfaction percentage, from 79% to 84%, and saw outstanding performances from Faculties and Schools across the campuses. The results in the National Student Survey (NSS), included feedback from students across its Swansea, Carmarthen, Lampeter and London campuses as well as those studying at its constituent college Coleg Sir Gâr and FE partner colleges. The annual survey asks final year students to rate their student experience and includes questions on such topics as the quality of the teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, as well as the learning resources available to students and the opportunities for personal development.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS The University was pleased to confer Honorary Fellowships and Doctorates upon exceptional individuals for their contribution in their fields of expertise, during the degree congregations held in Carmarthen, Lampeter and Swansea at the beginning of July 2016. During the ceremonies, the role of Professors of Practice were also conferred upon key individuals who enable the University to work with partners with specific expertise related to UWTSD s strategic aims. The role of Professor of Practice was conferred upon Professor Andrew Harrison, a specialist and independent consultant in Learning Environments and founder of Spaces That Work; Dr Rhydian Harries, Head of domain safety weapons division, Qinetiq; Dr Richard Granville, technical manager at Oceaneering; Ian Cooper, technology fellow in Advanced NDT at the TWI Technology Centre (Wales); Wendy Deering, Head of workforce and organisational development at NHS Wales Infomatics Service and chair of BCS ASSIST, NWIS; Jen Wilson, Director of Jazz Heritage Wales; Dr Nicholas Ossei-Gerning, a consultant interventional cardiologist and Dennis O Neill, world renowned tenor and director of UWTSD s Wales International Academy of Voice. Honorary Fellowships were conferred on Welsh Rugby Union president Dennis Gethin; BT Cymru Wales Director Alwen Williams; Swansea Production Designer Ed Thomas and Jeff Thomas, former Detective Chief Superintendent and Head of Dyfed Powys Police. Honorary Doctors were awarded to Dick Roberts, CBE, OBE, Consultant Optometric Adviser to the National Assembly of Wales and Welsh composer Professor Emeritus Rhian Samuel. CIPOLWG AR Y FLWYDDYN Creu System Addysg Newydd i Gymru Ymunodd Coleg Sir Gâr (Awst 2013) a Choleg Ceredigion (Ionawr 2014) yn ffurfiol â Phrifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant er mwyn creu llwybrau newydd cyffrous o addysg bellach i addysg uwch yn Ne a Gorllewin Cymru. Fe ddaeth y sefydliadau at ei gilydd o sefyllfa o gryfder mawr gyda phob un o r tri sefydliad ar y blaen o ran datblygiadau mewn addysg ac ymchwil alwedigaethol ac academaidd, datblygiad cynaliadwy a r iaith Gymraeg. Creodd yr uno strwythur grŵp addysgol arloesol sy n ymgorffori addysg bellach ac uwch, a elwir yn y Brifysgol Sector Deuol a hwn oedd yr unig un o i fath yng Nghymru. Cynlluniau i greu campws prifysgol newydd ar SA1 Glannau Abertawe Cyhoeddwyd cynlluniau i greu campws newydd bywiog gwerth miliynau o bunnoedd yn Abertawe yn dilyn cytundeb gan Lywodraeth Cymru i werthu chwe llain datblygu sylweddol yn SA1 Glannau Abertawe i Brifysgol Cymru y Drindod Dewi Sant. Dywedodd Gweinidog yr Economi Edwina Hart: Y weledigaeth ar gyfer SA1 oedd datblygu ardal newydd ddeinamig cymuned go iawn gydag ystod o wasanaethau a chyfleusterau lleol a lle mae pobl yn byw ac yn gweithio. Bydd y cynlluniau ar gyfer y campws newydd yn cyfrannu at natur defnydd cymysg cyffredinol y cynllun adfywio pwysig hwn a dylai ddod â bywiogrwydd i r datblygiad cyfan. Bydd yn rhoi cyfle i r Brifysgol ddatblygu cyfleusterau addysgu modern a gynlluniwyd yn arbennig i r myfyrwyr a r staff ac yn ei galluogi i ddatblygu cysylltiadau agosach â busnesau lleol er budd yr economi. Dywedodd yr Athro Medwin Hughes, Is-Ganghellor, Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant: Mae profiad ein myfyrwyr yn ganolog i n cynlluniau. Byddwn yn datblygu canolfannau arloesedd mewn gwahanol ddisgyblaethau gan ddod ag arbenigedd a chreadigwydd ein staff ynghyd. Dyma ymrwymiad y Brifysgol i drawsnewid addysg a thrwy hynny wneud cyfraniad cadarnhaol i Ddinas-ranbarth Bae Abertawe. Edrychwn ymlaen at gydweithio gyda Dinas a Sir Abertawe, ynghyd â n staff a n myfyrwyr i ddatblygu r weledigaeth fel y gallwn wneud cyfraniad cadarnhaol i Abertawe, y rhanbarth a Chymru. Adleoli Pencadlys S4C i Sir Gâr Ym mis Mawrth 2014, yn dilyn proses gystadleuol, cadarnhaodd Awdurdod S4C y byddai pencadlys y Sianel yn cael ei adleoli i gampws Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant yng Nghaerfyrddin. Bydd yn rhan o ganolfan greadigol newydd Canolfan S4C Yr Egin a fydd yn gartref i glwstwr o gwmnïau a sefydliadau o r diwydiannau creadigol. Bydd Canolfan S4C Yr Egin yn ddatblygiad arloesol a fydd wedi i leoli o fewn adeilad trawiadol ac eiconig ar gyrion tref hynafol Caerfyrddin. Bydd yn ganolfan a fydd yn sbarduno syniadau a chysylltiadau wrth feithrin talentau a rhannu adnoddau, yn bair creadigol ar gyfer ymarferwyr ac entrepreneuriaid o amrywiol ddisgyblaethau. Bydd yn agor yn swyddogol yn ystod chwarter cyntaf 2018. Dathlu Cynnydd yn Lefelau Bodlonrwydd Myfyrwyr yn Y Drindod Dewi Sant Mae Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant wrth ei bodd â chanlyniadau diweddar yr Arolwg Cenedlaethol o Fyfyrwyr sydd wedi gwella o ran canran bodlonrwydd myfyrwyr cyffredinol, o 79% i 84%, gyda pherfformiadau rhagorol gan Gyfadrannau ac Ysgolion ar draws y campysau. Roedd y canlyniadau yn yr Arolwg Cenedlaethol o Fyfyrwyr yn cynnwys adborth gan fyfyrwyr ar draws ei champysau yn Abertawe, Caerfyrddin, Llambed a Llundain, yn ogystal â r rheini sy n astudio yn ei goleg cyfansoddol Coleg Sir Gâr a cholegau AB partner. Mae r arolwg blynyddol yn gofyn i fyfyrwyr y flwyddyn olaf raddio u profiadau ac mae n cynnwys cwestiynau ar bynciau megis ansawdd yr addysgu, asesu ac adborth, cymorth academaidd, trefniadaeth a rheolaeth, yn ogystal â r adnoddau dysgu sydd ar gael i fyfyrwyr a r cyfleoedd ar gyfer datblygiad personol.

EIN GWERTHOEDD Mae gwerthoedd craidd y Brifysgol yn deillio o ein cenhadaeth a n gweledigaeth sy n canolbwyntio ar y dysgwr ac maent yn cael eu mynegi a u hymestyn drwy hyrwyddo saith thema gynllunio allweddol: Cydweithredu drwy sefydlu ystod o berthnasau strategol ar lefel ranbarthol, genedlaethol a rhyngwladol. Bydd gan rwydweithiau o r fath y potensial i ysbrydoli ein dysgwyr, ein staff a n partneriaid ac i greu dyfodol newydd, cyffrous ar gyfer dysgu. Cynwysoldeb drwy roi dysgwyr yn gyntaf a hybu dysgu gydol oes heb rwystrau; a chefnogi myfyrwyr o bob cefndir ac ar bob cam yn eu haddysg. Cyflogadwyedd a Chreadigrwydd drwy feithrin sgiliau entrepreneuraidd, ymchwiliol, creadigol a sgiliau mentro ein dysgwyr, gallwn gynnig rhaglenni addysgol sy n caniatáu i n myfyrwyr gael y cyfle gorau i ddod o hyd i waith ac i ddatblygu eu sgiliau trosglwyddadwy. Datblygiad Cynaliadwy drwy ddulliau system-seiliedig o gyflwyno llwybrau addysg ystyrlon a pherthnasol, byddwn yn hyrwyddo dysgu a chyfrifoldeb cymdeithasol sy n cefnogi datblygu sy n diwallu anghenion y presennol heb beryglu gallu cenedlaethau r dyfodol i ddiwallu u hanghenion hwythau. (Comisiwn Brundtland, 1987). Cymru a i chymeriad arbennig drwy ddathlu asedau a threftadaeth ieithyddol a diwylliannol arbennig Cymru. Y cysyniad o ddinasyddiaeth fyd-eang drwy ddatblygu gweithgareddau a chyfleoedd rhyngwladol pellach i n dysgwyr, ein staff a n partneriaid. Ymchwil a i effaith ar bolisïau drwy sicrhau bod gweithgarwch a chanlyniadau ein hymchwil yn dylanwadu ar sylfaen dystiolaeth polisïau a ddatblygir yng Nghymru a thu hwnt.

Ardal Arloesi Glannau Abertawe Adeilad Cyfadran Penaserniaeth, Cyfrifiadura a Pheirianneg Lansiad Yr Athrofa Brifysgol a i phartneriaid yn creu canolfannau menter newydd a chynlluniau sbarduno sgiliau uchel i dyfu busnesau newydd sy n gysylltiedig â n portffolio, lle byddwn yn datblygu sgiliau busnesau presennol ac yn denu buddsoddiad newydd i r rhanbarth. Ymateb y Brifysgol i r Fargen Newydd i athrawon gan Lywodraeth Cymru, cyhoeddi r adroddiad Addysgu Athrawon Yfory gan yr Athro John Furlong, a Dyfodol Llwyddiannus: Adolygiad Annibynnol o r Cwricwlwm a r Trefniadau Asesu yng Nghymru gan yr Athro Graham Donaldson, oedd lansio Adduned Addysg. Roedd yr Adduned yn cynnwys ymrwymiad i sefydlu r Athrofa Addysg. Mae r Athrofa a lansiwyd ym mis Mehefin yn cynnwys tair elfen - Partneriaeth Dysgu Proffesiynol yn cynnwys dros 100 o ysgolion o bob rhan o Gymru a Phrifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant, Canolfannau Rhagoriaeth Ymchwil mewn meysydd allweddol: tegwch mewn addysg; y Gymraeg a i diwylliant; ac addysg blynyddoedd cynnar, ynghyd â Chomisiwn Addysg Cymru sy n dwyn ynghyd unigolion amlwg o bob cwr o r byd y bernir eu bod yn brif feddylwyr ac sydd â hanes o lwyddiant rhagorol yn eu meysydd addysg eu hunain. Yn ystod y flwyddyn, lansiwyd hefyd gynnig unigryw ym maes iechyd a lles yn gysylltiedig â Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau r Dyfodol 2015 Llywodraeth Cymru ac yn cynnwys datblygiadau cwricwlwm ar draws ein cyfadrannau. Mae lleoliad y Brifysgol ar draws y rhanbarth yn cynnig cyfleoedd inni weithio gydag ymarferwyr iechyd proffesiynol ar draws De-orllewin Cymru ar ddatblygu rhaglenni sy n cwrdd â u hanghenion penodol. Er enghraifft, mae traddodiad hir campws Caerfyrddin ar gyfer addysgu dwyieithog, gofal cymdeithasol, llythrennedd corfforol a phlentyndod cynnar yn cynnig sylfaen gadarn ar gyfer cydweithio gyda phartneriaid amrywiol sydd â diddordeb mewn materion yn ymwneud ag iechyd mewn ardaloedd gwledig. Yn Llambed, rydym yn datblygu partneriaeth gyda Choleg Schumacher i greu amgylchedd adfyfyriol lle gall pobl ymgymryd â rhychwant o raglenni sy n adeiladu ar arbenigedd Cyfadran y Dyniaethau er mwyn creu gweledigaeth o r hyn y dylai gwasanaeth iechyd a lles fod mewn cyd-destun gwledig yn y 21ain Ganrif. Ymysg datblygiadau eraill ar gampws Llambed mae nifer o fentrau yn adeiladu ar hanes y campws yn ganolfan fyd-eang ar gyfer astudiaeth aml-ffydd ac amlddiwylliannol, a roddai gyfle inni archwilio meysydd gwaith ymchwil ac ehangu i ddisgyblaethau academaidd eraill sy n dangos ein gwerthoedd cyffredin ac sy n hyrwyddo cytgord diwylliannol. Arwyddwyd cytundeb gyda Chanolfan Ymchwil ac Astudiaethau Islamaidd y Brenin Faisal ym mis Mawrth a fydd yn arwain at gydweithio i ddatblygu cysylltiadau academaidd ac ymchwil mewn meysydd o ddiddordeb cyffredin, ynghyd â phrosiect o r enw Diwylliannau Gweledol Cymru: Persbectif Islamaidd, o dan gyfarwyddyd Dr Abdulrahman Alzaagy a r Athro Martin O Kane. Mae r gwaith yn adeiladu ar y prosiect Delweddu r Beibl yng Nghymru dan arweiniad yr Athro O Kane, a chydweithwyr ym Mhrifysgol Cymru a Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru a fu n cofnodi delweddau crefyddol o r Beibl mewn sefydliadau ledled Cymru. Ei Uchelder Brenhinol, Tywysog Charles gyda r Athro Medwin Hughes, DL Pum Athro Ymarfer mewn Cytgord Y Drindod Dewi Sant gyda r Athro Medwin Hughes DL a Dr Jane Davidson Lansiwyd hefyd nifer o fentrau ar y thema Cytgord ac fe groesawyd Ei Uchelder Brenhinol, Tywysog Cymru, Noddwr y Brifysgol, i fod yn rhan o seremoni arbennig i ddathlu ymrwymiad y Tywysog i gynaliadwyedd a chytgord. Er dros ddeugain mlynedd, mae Ei Uchelder Brenhinol wedi bod wrthi n llunio naratif sydd wedi trawsnewid ein cymdeithas. Mae r arweinyddiaeth a r eglurder meddwl a welir yn ei areithiau a i erthyglau yn arwydd o ymdeimlad dwfn o ddyletswydd a pharodrwydd i godi llais er mwyn ysgogi newid diwylliannol, cymdeithasol, amgylcheddol ac economaidd. Roedd yn bleser mawr gennym felly agor arddangosfa newydd ar y campws sy n cynnwys darnau o i areithiau a i erthyglau rhwng 1968 a 2012, a olygwyd mewn dwy gyfrol gan yr Athro David Cadman a Suheil Bushrui ac a gyhoeddwyd gan Wasg Prifysgol Cymru. Cyflwynodd Ei Uchelder Brenhinol hefyd bum Athro Ymarfer mewn Cytgord er Anrhydedd i r Athro David Cadman, economegydd tir trefol ac awdur, Juliet Davenport, Prif Weithredwr Good Energy, un o r cwmnïau cyntaf yn y DU i gynhyrchu a chyflenwi trydan 100% adnewyddadwy, Peter Davies, cadeirydd annibynnol cyntaf Comisiwn Cymru ar y Newid yn yr Hinsawdd, Tony Juniper, cynghorydd annibynnol ar gynaliadwyedd a r amgylchedd, a John Sauven, Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol, Greenpeace UK, am eu cyfraniad rhagorol i faes cynaliadwyedd yn y DU. Wrth i ni symud ymlaen i gyfnod arall ar ein taith a r uno gyda Phrifysgol Cymru maes o law, edrychwn yn hyderus tuag at y dyfodol gyda chynllun strategol clir sy n gosod pwyslais ar ddysgu cymhwysol, disgyblaethau academaidd cryfion ac ymroddiad at arloesi, mentergarwch a throsglwyddo gwybodaeth. Rydym yn credu mai Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant yw r Brifysgol aml-gyswllt; wedi i chysylltu drwy ystod o bartneriaethau strategol rydym wedi u datblygu ar lefel ranbarthol, genedlaethol a rhyngwladol sy n ysbrydoli ein dysgwyr, ein staff a n partneriaid. Mae ein cysylltiadau n ymestyn i gyflogwyr yn y sector cyhoeddus, preifat a gwirfoddol sy n gweithio gyda ni i ddatblygu rhaglenni a gweithgareddau perthnasol i greu cyfleoedd am fwy o swyddi a buddsoddiad yn y rhanbarth. Mae gan y Brifysgol broffil cenedlaethol clir - cyflawni dros Gymru a dathlu ei chymeriad unigryw ar lefel y DU ac yn rhyngwladol. Wrth i mi edrych yn ôl ar y flwyddyn 2015-2016, rwyf yn ymfalchïo yn y gwaith sydd wedi i gyflawni a fydd yn gwneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau unigolion a chymunedau yn Ne-orllewin Cymru a thu hwnt. Gyda n gilydd, yn llywodraethwyr a chydweithwyr o fewn Grŵp PCYDDS, rydym wedi ysgogi gwir newid trawsffurfiol trwy ein parodrwydd i groesawu modelau newydd o gyflwyno sgiliau lefel uchel sy n ymateb i anghenion Cymru. Mae r Adroddiad Blynyddol hwn yn rhoi cipolwg ar lwyddiannau ein staff a n myfyrwyr dros y flwyddyn. Rwyf yn ddiolchgar iddynt, ac i Gorff Llywodraethol y Brifysgol, am eu cefnogaeth barhaus a gwerthfawr ac edrychaf ymlaen wrth i ni fynd ati i sicrhau dyfodol Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant i genedlaethau r dyfodol. PROFFIL O R BRIFYSGOL TRAWSNEWID ADDYSG... TRAWSNEWID BYWYDAU Ffurfiwyd Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant ar 18 Tachwedd 2010 trwy uno Prifysgol Cymru Llambed a Choleg Prifysgol Y Drindod Caerfyrddin, o dan Siarter Frenhinol 1828 Llambed. Ar 1 Awst 2013, daeth Prifysgol Fetropolitan Abertawe yn rhan o r Drindod Dewi Sant. Siarter Frenhinol y Brifysgol yw r hynaf yng Nghymru a Lloegr ar ôl prifysgolion Rhydychen a Chaergrawnt. Yn 2011, daeth Ei Uchelder Brenhinol yn Noddwr Brenhinol y Brifysgol. Mae Grŵp Y Drindod Dewi Sant yn cynnwys Coleg Sir Gâr a Choleg Ceredigion yn rhan o strwythur grŵp sector deuol sy n cynnwys colegau addysg bellach a r brifysgol. Mae gan Grŵp Y Drindod Dewi Sant dros 25,000 o ddysgwyr ar draws 17 o gampysau mewn lleoliadau gwledig a dinesig. Gyda n gilydd, rydym yn cyflywno manteision clir, diriaethol i ddysgwyr, cyflogwyr, diwydiant a chymunedau trwy gynnig ymagwedd alwedigaethol o lefel mynediad i ymchwil ôl-ddoethurol. Cryfheir y Grŵp ymhellach maes o law pan fydd Prifysgol Cymru yn ymgyfuno â r Drindod Dewi Sant. Lleolir prif gampysau r Brifysgol mewn lleoliadau amrywiol o gwmpas canol dinas Abertawe ac yn nhrefi gwledig Llambed a Chaerfyrddin yn Ne-orllewin Cymru. Lleolir Academi Llais Ryngwladol Cymru, dan Gyfarwyddiaeth Dennis O Neill a r Fonesig Kiri Te Kanawa yn noddwr arni, yng Nghaerdydd. Hefyd mae Ysgol Busnes gan y Brifysgol yn Llundain ar gyfer myfyrwyr rhyngwladol. Yr Athro Medwin Hughes, DL, Is-Ganghellor Lansiad Canolfan Arloesi Adeiladu Cymru Canolfan S4C Yr Egin Mae r Adroddiad Blynyddol hwn yn edrych yn ôl ar flwyddyn academaidd 2015-16, blwyddyn pryd cymerodd y Brifysgol gamau breision tuag at drawsnewid y tirlun addysg yn Ne-orllewin Cymru. Crëwyd Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant er mwyn darparu prifysgol ddinesig newydd a fyddai n addas ar gyfer anghenion Cymru yn yr unfed ganrif ar hugain. O r cychwyn cyntaf, y nod oedd hybu rhagoriaeth mewn ymchwil cymhwysol, ysgolheictod, dysgu ac addysgu, a thrwy hyn byddai r Brifysgol yn gwneud cyfraniad sylweddol i r economi wybodaeth ac i arloesi cymdeithasol yn y rhanbarth. Heddiw mae Grŵp y Brifysgol, sy n cynnwys Coleg Sir Gâr a Choleg Ceredigion yn golegau cyfansoddol, wedi i leoli ei hun yn gatalydd ar gyfer ysgogi twf economaidd, cymdeithasol a diwylliannol ar draws Dinas-ranbarth Bae Abertawe a thu hwnt. Yn sicr mae presenoldeb y Grŵp ar draws y rhanbarth yn gryfder allweddol sy n caniatáu inni weithio gyda chyflogwyr a phartneriaid er mwyn sicrhau perthnasedd ein cwricwlwm ar gyfer gweithlu r dyfodol yng Nghymru, y DU a thu hwnt. Croesawyd blwyddyn academaidd 2015-16 wedi inni dderbyn adroddiad yr Asiantaeth Sicrhau Ansawdd Addysg Uwch ar ei Hadolygiad Sefydliadol o r Brifysgol a gadarnhaodd ansawdd a safonau ein darpariaeth. Yn ystod y flwyddyn dathlwyd hefyd ein bod wedi llwyddo yn ôl safonau Buddsoddwyr Mewn Pobl a dynnodd sylw at ffocws y Brifysgol ar brofiad ein myfyrwyr. Nododd yr aseswyr fod Y genhadaeth Trawsnewid addysg, trawsnewid bywydau wedi ysbrydoli pobl ac wedi annog y pwyslais ar y myfyrwyr ar draws y Brifysgol. Rhoddodd y ddau adroddiad rhagorol hyn sylfaen gadarn ar gyfer tyfu a datblygu ein themâu strategol gydol y flwyddyn. Yn ystod y flwyddyn bu cydweithwyr o fewn Grŵp y Brifysgol yn parhau i gydweithio ar ddarparu mentrau amlddisgyblaethol ar y cyd, o ddilysu rhaglenni a llwybrau dilyniant newydd i gynadleddau myfyrwyr a digwyddiadau recriwtio. Datblygiad cyffrous a oedd yn cynnwys y Grŵp a phartneriaid addysg bellach eraill oedd sicrhau cytundeb arloesol Cymru gyfan gwerth 6.5m gyda Bwrdd Hyfforddi r Diwydiant Adeiladu (CITB) i sefydlu Canolfan Arloesi Adeiladu Cymru (CWIC) a chynnig cyfleusterau cwbl fodern a hyfforddiant o safon fyd-eang ar gyfer unigolion a chwmnïau adeiladu. Gyda i phencadlys yn Ardal Arloesi Glannau Abertawe, bydd gan CWIC safleoedd yng ngholegau ar draws Cymru hefyd, gan gynnwys Coleg Sir Gâr a Choleg Ceredigion, ynghyd â Choleg Cambria yng Ngogledd Cymru a Choleg y Cymoedd yn y De-ddwyrain. Roedd datblygiad parhaus Ardal Arloesi Glannau Abertawe yn brif flaenoriaeth. Derbyniwyd caniatâd cynllunio ar gyfer Cam cyntaf y datblygiad gwerth 300 miliwn er mwyn i r gwaith adeiladu ddechrau yn yr hydref 2016 ar gyfer adeiladau newydd i r Llyfrgell a r Gyfadran Pensaernïaeth, Cyfrifiadura a Pheirianneg, ynghyd ag ardaloedd addysgu a chyfadrannol canolog cysylltiedig a fydd wedi u cwblhau erbyn 2018. Yn ychwanegol at hyn, symudodd datblygiad Canolfan S4C Yr Egin ar gampws Caerfyrddin yn ei flaen a chyflwynwyd cais cynllunio ar gyfer yr adeilad ysbrydoledig i Gyngor Sir Caerfyrddin ym mis Gorffennaf. Mae r ddwy fenter sylweddol hyn wedi gosod patrwm ar gyfer datblygiadau yn y dyfodol lle bydd y Brifysgol yn cydleoli gyda phartneriaid proffesiynol megis CITB, OSTC a Gwasanaeth Gwybodeg GIG Cymru (NWIS) yn Abertawe, a S4C a r diwydiannau creadigol yng Nghaerfyrddin, er mwyn ymelwa ar wybodaeth ac arbenigedd er budd y ddwy ochr.
