2 COURSE DESCRIPTION This course designed to inspire the student with importants ways of looking at and thinking about architecture. Through a comprehensive introduction, this course laying a foundation for a general understanding of architecture. The course also engages the present and the past, the poetic and pragmatic aspects of architecture. Course ID Introduction to Architecture Code 2 Credits Semester 1 st Undergraduate Program Compulsory Class Schedule on Tuesday14.00-16.00 [pursal class] No Prerequisites Learning Objectives This course aims to preparing the students to be able to think critically through understanding of architectural process in daily life. Students will obtain : Critical Thinking Knowledge : The course will enhance critical thinking knowledge through consistent reading and class presentations and discussions of key ideas Communication Knowledge : The course will enhance communication knowledge through participation in class discussions and a home work paper submission with a critical analysis. Learning Outcome After completing the course the student will obtain knowledge and skill to: Be able to identify and understand the internal and external aspects of architecture in daily life Be able to implement and analysis key ideas of architecture in daily life Be able to evaluate and create scientific opinion in a very basic state concerning the condition of architectural in daily life. 3 COURSE GUIDELINES The Methods of the course : 2 (two) hours classical lectures per week. Student previously will be given reading materials that will be discussed in the lecture Students will be divided in 8 (eight) groups and required to make evaluation on each lecture session alternately. Lectures evaluation should be sent to email : pursal@purnamasalura.com. And will be uploaded to website. The groups which were not obliged to make the evaluation should make critical comments of the lectures evaluation in the website Main Literature The course material should be read and evaluated is the entire text of the lecture or the given teaching text [see subject] Students are required to analyze, evaluate the topics and then redevelope the topic based on given literature readings. 5 GRADING POLICY Final GradingComponent will be determined as follows : Assignment : 50%. The topic of individual assignments will be given after Mid-Test Mid-Test : 20%. Students are free to choose Mid-Test material from one of the lecture topics that has been discussed Final-Test : 30%.
