KK100 - a Private View Hosted by Farrells The Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) and Farrells invite you to a conference and tour of KK100. Please join us for a presention by the panel of experts who created this new landmark. 9:00am (HK) 11am (Shenzhen) on Wednesday 7 December. The seminar will be conducted by speakers from Farrells / ARUP / St Regis Hotel / Laguarda Low / Kingkey Construction Group This event will bring together a team of experts to explore the design, the challenges, the expertise in creating one of the world s tallest buildings and new landmark in Shenzhen. About CTBUH Founded in 1969, the Council s mission is to disseminate multidisciplinary information on tall buildings and sustainable urban environments, to maximize the international interaction of professionals involved in creating the built environment, and to make the latest knowledge available to professionals in a useful form. The Council is an international not-for-profit organization supported by architecture, engineering, planning, development and construction professionals. The CTBUH is the world s leading body in the field of tall buildings and the recognized source of information on tall buildings internationally. It is the arbiter of the criteria upon which tall building height is measured, and thus the title of The World s Tallest Building determined. Stephen John Ford General Manager, The St. Regis Shenzhen Vice President, Area Managing Director for South China region, Starwood Stephen Ford has been appointed as General Manager of The St. Regis Shenzhen, comprising 297 rooms, 11 meeting rooms and fifth restaurants and bars. He is also Vice President, Area Managing Director, South China, for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Stephen joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2001 with the opening of the 1st Westin in China, The Westin Bund Center, Shanghai. He went on to become the Vice President and Area Managing Director in Indonesia for two years and Regional Vice President in India, Nepal and Bangladesh for three years, before coming back to China to the Sheraton Sanya Resort as General Manager and Vice President and Area Managing Director for South China. With over 25 years experience in Europe and throughout Asia Pacific, Stefan has an in-depth knowledge of the design, planning and integration of large complex, commercial and high-rise projects through all stages of procurement. He has led the architectural design on a multitude of commercial related projects in Asia including the 9th tallest building in the world, KK100, a 441.8m tower in Shenzhen; Vattanac Capital in Cambodia 1st high-rise in Cambodia; and BEA Financial Tower. In addition, he is currently in charge of a 40 ha master planning and urban design of the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong s new major culture hub. Krummeck is involved in a multitude of award-winning integrated infrastructures including the Kowloon Station Development (KSD). KSD is recognized as one of the world s finest transport super-city interchange that forms a key part of Hong Kong s airport railway network that incorporates a fully master-planned high-density, mixeduse development of 1.7million m². Other projects include the Incheon Airport GTC in Korea; the design for New Delhi Railway Station and its airport express; and Asia s two largest rail termini - Beijing South Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station. Stefan is the CTBUH country representative for Hong Kong. Paul Tsang Director, Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited Regional Chair of the Buildings Practice, Arup East Asia Region Paul is a Director of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited leading a main Building Group, working on the design and management of both multi-disciplinary and structural projects. He is responsible for the delivery of numerous major projects in the Asia Region, and has been involved in various types of projects including hotels, sports centres, residential, commercial and institutional buildings. He is experienced in the design and project management of deep basements, tall buildings (office, residential) and large scale infrastructure and building developments. He is particularly experienced in the design and planning of fast-track projects. Paul is a Director of East Asia Board, and represents the Arup East Asia Region as the Regional Chair of the Buildings Practice. John Low Principal, Laguarda.Low Architects John Low has been practicing architecture for over 25 years and has extensive experience in the design of large-scale commercial mixeduse developments around the world. Mr. Low received a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University in 1987 and a Master of Architecture with honors from the University of Berkeley in 1992. Prior to the founding Laguarda.Low Architects in 2000, Mr. Low spent nearly 10 years serving as Associate Vice Principal at RTKL working on international large-scale commercial mixed use developments, and was heavily involved in large-scale retail projects throughout Japan. Mr. Low Joined HOK in 1997, where he served as Vice Principal for three years as a leader in retail and commercial focus groups for projects around the world.
