Comments added by John Brebner < john.brebner@brebner.com > Walter BREMNER 02 Feb 1879 Chicago Tribune, Mon 3 Feb 1879 8:5 BREMNER--Feb. 2, Walter, youngest son of Robert and Elizabeth Bremner. Funeral from the residence, 482 North Paulina Street., Feb. 3. Friends of the family are invited. Robert Bremner is shown as living at Emily and the NE corner of Paulina Street in the 1870 Chicago City Directory. He was a millwright, died 23 NOV 1886 (see below). His wife Elizabeth died 28 JUL 1888 (below). An older son, Robert A. Bremner, working as a Pressman was boarding at 482 North Paulina in the 1880 Chicago City Directory. James Bremner, also in the printing business is at the same residence in 1895. Frank Bremner, also in the printing business, (shown below) was a brother. There were eight children in total. Mary BREMNER 07 Nov 1879 Chicago Daily News, Sat 8 Nov 1879 2:6 BREMNER--Mrs. MARY BREMNER, at residence, 69 Bunker Street. The funeral will take place at 69 Bunker Street., Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, by cars to Calvary Cemetery. Bremner is shown in the 1895 Chicago City Directory as a clerk, living at 4442 Ellis Avenue. A sister, Mary A. Bremner, Teacher was also at the Ellis Avenue home. In 1900, he was at the same address, in the insurance business. His mother, Bridget, widow of James Bremner is also at that address. She is listed alone and presumably widowed in the 1870 directory at 105 West Polk Street. From the Chicago Voters Lists < www.ancestry.com >, an E.A. Bremner is show as residing at 4345 Evans Avenue, born in Illinois and having resided in the county for 18 months. Alexander Bremner lived with his family at 273 North May Street in 1900. He was an awning maker, son Alexander was a Junior clerk. David was a press folder. I note that the family were buried in the German Waldheim Cemetery,

whish suggests that their origin may not have been Scottish. The address at Alexander s death, 468 McLean Avenue was that of his daughter Florence (Mrs. Andrew O Day). Imogene C. Benjamin is listed on the Chicago Voters Lists of 1888, 1890 as living at 463 Monroe Street, and according to those documents was born in New Jersey.
