Bryant, 84, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, November 23, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bryant Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today after 3 p.m. and all day Thr4usday, November 22. Mrs. Bryant died Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at Masters health Care Center. Daughter of the late Elzie and Carrie Dyer Harville, she was born October 7, 1919, in Baxter. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker. Her family includes five daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Doyle Oakley of Algood, Laurene Pennington, Helen Danner and Donna and Jerry Hagan, all of Cookeville and Linda and Kevin Carter of Silver Point; one brother, Junior Harville of Baxter; one sister, Ruby Reed of Nashville; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Bryant; one daughter, Christine Bryant; one son, D. L. Bryant; four brothers and one sister. Bro. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sarah Virginia Searcy Bryant, age 79 of the Bethany community in Baxter, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Presley Funeral home, with Pastor Shelia Lancaster, and Pastor Frank Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in the Dennis Bryant Cemetery across from her home.

The family will receive friends at Presley Funeral Home, Sunday between the hours of 5-9 p.m., and Monday beginning at 12 noon until the time of Services at 2 p.m. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Methodist Church. She passed away Friday night at home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Bryant was born October 10, 1935 in Davidson County, Tennessee to the late Francis Travis and Norman Searcy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by; two daughters, Beverly James Mainer and Janice Mae James. She is survived by; Franklin Delano Bryant, her husband of 58 years; two sons, Larry James of Nashville, Tennessee, and Frankie Bryant of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Judy Harville and Vickie Bryant, both of Baxter; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Delight passed away on Wednesday evening, Jan. 9, 2013, at her home. She was born April 12, 1962, in Cookeville to James Earl Cowan and Reba Joyce Sherrill.

Delight's generous heart and friendship to all will forever impact our community. She served in the areas of banking (Middle TN Credit Union and American Bank and Trust), medicine and juvenile justice, and was a graduate of both the Cookeville Citizens Police and Fire Academies. Delight was a member of Midway Baptist Church and deeply appreciated the United Church of Christ tradition. Family and friends give thanks for her great love, humor, wisdom, talent, authentic spirit, musical influence, and the freedom she gave people to be genuine. Her family includes her dad and stepmom, James Earl and Sylvia Cowan of Cookeville; her mom, Reba Gibson Sherrill; a sister, Teresa Cowan (Lowell) Jones of Tucson, Ariz.; a nephew, Benjamin Jones; a special friend, Scott Herron; two stepbrothers, Todd (Tonya) Pile and Tim Pile; her two beloved kittens, Ella and Bella; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her cat, Chardeney. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Rev. Gene Skipworth of United Church of Cookeville will officiate at the services. Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Malana and Daniel Phillips of Livingston; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Ruby Linder of Baxter; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Jr. Grogan and Vickie and Dean Herron, all of Cookeville; and three grandchildren, Darrien, Becca and Donnie Wayne Phillips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Franky Darrien Brown; a nephew, Paul David Grogan; and a niece, Michelle Grogan. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bros.
