He married Jane Lacey Lassels 1523 in England. She was born 1504 in Stamford, Rutland, England. Notes for Maurice Johnson: Born about 1480, England: d 1551 at Stamford. His will dated February 20, 1551 and proved October 19, 1551 requests that he be buried at All Hallows Parrish, Stamford. Maurice served Constable of Stamford (1507-9), chamberlain (1508-9), member of the Second Twelve (1508-12), member of the First Twelve (1512-51), mayor (1517-18), (1538-9) and a member of Parliment from Stamford (1523,1529,1536). He had interests in both mercantile and maritime trades, lived in All Hallows Parish, Stamford where he was assessed for subsidy in 1546. Robert Johnson was a graduate and fellow of Jesus College, Oxford, canon of Windsor in 1572 and archdeacon of Leicester in 1591. He founded two schools and two hospitals in Rutlandshire all of which he endowed. He was also benefactor of the preachers of St. Paul's Cross, Upping.
