VII/1] SCUOLA DI ARCHITETTURA URBANISTICA INGEGNERIA DELLE COSTRUZIONI SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE ACME (Advanced Construction Management and Economics) SEMINAR MILANO WEEK 05.04-10.04.2018 GRAZ WEEK 24.05-29.05.2018 The School of Architecture, Urban Planning, Construction Engineering IN REGARD OF the exchange agreement signed on November 21st, 2014 between Politecnico di Milano and Graz Technical University DECREE the issue of the selection procedure for the ACME Seminar (Advanced Construction Management and Economics) that will take place: - in Politecnico di Milano (Campus Leonardo and Lecco), from April 5th to April 10th, 2018 - in TU Graz (Austria), from May 24th to May 29th, 2018; according to the attached agenda. Art. 1 - Recipients This announcement is open to all the students attending the following MSc courses: - Ingegneria dei Sistemi Edilizi (Ita) (Building Engineering) - Building and Architectural Engineering (Eng) - Management of Built Environment (Eng) - Ingegneria Edile Architettura (Ita) (Building Engineering/Architecture) Art. 2 Project description The ACME Seminar is an international knowledge exchange course between the Politecnico di Milano and the Graz Technical University. solutions and prefabrication. The students will acquire advanced knowledge of international engineering duties with a special focus on Austrian and Italian construction principles. The lectures will be combined with a workshop and building site visits. The lectures and the workshop will deal with issues related to: analysis and definition of technological solutions, topics related to different construction systems (considering: intended use of the buildings, materials and prefabrication level), production, building site management, acquisition and tendering, contract general conditions. Each working group will be made up of 4 students (n. 2 from Politecnico di Milano and n. 2 from TU Graz). The lectures and workshop will be held in English. Art. 3 Submission of the application and deadlines The application form, written on plain paper, in accordance with the exemplifying attached form, must be delivered by hand in a sealed envelope addressed to Presidency office of the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering of Politecnico di Milano, and submitted within on February 9th, 2018, to the Mail, Protocol and Archive Service of Politecnico di Milano, P.zza Leonardo da Vinci, 32, from Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm, accompanied by the attachments below. On the envelope of the application the candidate's references must be indicated as follows: "surname - first name identification number - MSc course- selection ACME SEMINAR 2018". Please note that Politecnico di Milano will be closed from 27/12/2017 to 05/01/2018. For selection purposes, candidates must produce: 1) application form in English, according to the attached form, with date and signature; 2) curriculum vitae in English; 3) credits and weighted average of marks, regularly registered by the deadline of this call, that will be extracted from the digital archive of Politecnico di Milano. For the MSc students that have not registered at least three examinations by the deadline of this call, the bachelor s degree graduation exam admission weighted average of marks will be considered; 4) motivation letter, in English; 5) photocopy of a valid identity document. Candidates are admitted to the selection with reserve. The Head of the procedure can decide, at any time, to exclude from the selection by fax, registered letter, telegram or PEC, for the following reasons: - failure in subscription of the admission application;
- the lack of curriculum vitae; - the lack of a valid identity document; - lack of compliance with requirements of Article 3 and 4 of the call; - any other breach of the requirements of the call. Art. 4 Requirements for participation and selection procedure A Selection Committee will select a maximum of 16 candidates (students), preferably 4 for each MSc course, establishing a shortlist to be used in case the number of candidates will be higher than available places. The Selection Committee will be composed by: - Dean of the School of Architecture, Urban Planning, Construction Engineering or its delegate; - 1 professor from the Ingegneria dei Sistemi Edilizi (Ita) (Building Engineering) course: A. Lucchini; - 1 professor from the Building and Architectural Engineering (Eng) course: M. Ruta; - 1 professor from the Management of Built Environment (Eng) course: M. C. Dejaco; - 1 professor from the Ingegneria Edile Architettura (Ita) (Building Engineering/ Architecture) course: G. Masera. The Selection Committee will select the candidates, defining a shortlist, based on: The Commission will select the candidates and will assign up to 100 points as follows: - Curriculum Vitae (up to 40 points); - credits and weighted average of marks, regularly registered by the deadline of this call, that will be extracted from the digital archive of Politecnico di Milano. For the MSc students that have not registered at least three examinations by the deadline of this call, the bachelor s degree graduation exam admission weighted average of marks will be considered (up to 40 points); - motivation letter (up to 50 points); at the end a merit ranking list for each of the above mentioned Master's Degree will be drawn up. Art. 5 Merit ranking list The list of the selected students will be published together with the ranking list on the AUIC School website: http://www.auic.polimi.it/studenti/bandi-studenti/ by February 20, 2018. Selected students will be promptly informed by e-mail and must give confirmation of participation via email at didattica.abc@polimi.it within 28 February, 2018 at 6:00 pm
(attaching a copy of the payment receipt), providing at the same deadline the flat-rate contribution to the travel and accommodation expenses in Graz of 250.00 on the c.c. banking of Banca Popolare di Sondrio - Agency 21 Milano, Via Bonardi 4-20133 Milan, with the following bank details: IBAN: IT98L0569601620000001840X18 SWIFT: POSOIT22 registered to Politecnico - Dipartimento di Architettura, Ingegneria delle Costruzioni e Ambiente costruito - Architecture, Built environment and Construction engineering ABC, indicating the reason for payment: "ACME SEMINAR 2018 Student s surname and name". If a selected student will not confirm his/her participation and will not deposit the flat-rate contribution within the deadline, he/she will be excluded, and he/she will be replaced by the first of the excluded students, preferably of the same MSc course, in order of merit according to the ranking list. Attendance to the two weeks of the seminar is mandatory, 3 CFU will be assigned to the students of the Politecnico di Milano in place of the internship ones or in excess. Politecnico di Milano will support for the remaining students travel expenses to Graz, by bus and/or by train and accommodation costs, in hostel or hotel. Art. 6 Data treatment According to Legislative Decree 30.6.2003, n. 196 and subsequent amendments and additions, personal data provided by the candidates will be processed only for the purpose connected to the management of this call and stored at the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering of Politecnico di Milano P.zza Leonardo da Vinci, 32 Milano. Submission of this data is compulsory for the purpose of assessing the participation requirements, subject to exclusion from the procedure.
