Families of Michilimackinac Chaboillé Family Compiled by Diane Wolford Sheppard Charles Chaboillé, son of Charles Chaboillé and Angélique Dandonneau dite du Sablé, was born and baptized 8 December 1706 in Montréal [Jetté, p. 243]. His godparents were Charles Basset and Jeanne Basset [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, M, Montréal, Basilique Notre-Dame, 1705-1712, Image 96]. Signatures at the baptism of Charles Chaboillé Charles Chaboillé probably lived with his mother and stepfather, Ignace Jean dit Vien, in Michilimackinac. He married Marie Anne Chevalier, daughter of Jean Baptiste Chevalier and Marie Françoise Alavoine, 22 September 1735 in Michilimackinac [PRDH #19571]. Marie Anne Chevalier was born and baptized 22 January 1712 in Montréal [Jetté, p. 248]. Her godparents were Robert de Poitiers, sieur du Buisson, and Catherine LePallieur [ancestry.com, Drouin Collection, M, Montréal, Basilique Notre-Dame, 1705-1712, Image 336]. Signatures at the baptism of Marie Anne Chevalier Charles Chaboillé was an engageur. On 3 June 1742, Charles Chaboillé hired Joseph Lefebvre dit Lasiseraye to make a voyage to Michilimackinac [Jean Baptiste Adhémar; RAPQ1930, 1 p. 422]. Although only one contracts survives from Montréal, Charles Chaboillé may have been involved in other transactions that were contracted in Michilimackinac. The couple had nine children who were born and baptized at Michilimackinac between 1733 and 1754 Charles Chaboillé was buried 19 November 1757 [PRDH #19571 Chaboillé Chevalier Family and Couple Views does not specify the location of his burial]. After her husband s death, Marie Anne Chevalier settled in Montréal where their sons were involved in the fur trade [DCB biography of Jean Baptiste Chaboillez]. Marie Anne Chevalier died 12 July 1788 in Montréal [PRDH-IGD, # 10399 Chevalier Alavoine Family and Couple Views]. Charles Chaboillé and Marie Anne Chevalier s children: The youngest children who were baptized in Michilimackinac were recorded in a list; the names of the godparents were not recorded. Charles Jean Baptiste Chaboillé was heavily involved in the fur trade [DCB http://www.biographi.ca/en/bio/chaboillez_charles_jean_baptiste_5e.html]. He married Marie Josèphe Chapoton, daughter of Jean Chapoton and Madeleine Estève, 2 February 1765 in Ste. His godparents were Mr. Duplessis [François Duplessis Faber], fils, an officer of the troops and second in command of this post, and Angélique Chevalier, the baby s aunt [Ste.
