After 1½ miles turn left onto the A8003 to Tighnabruaich. On entering Tighnabruaich stay on the high road where Ardeneden will be found on the right hand side. Situation Tighnabruaich, along with the adjoining village of Kames, provides a remarkably good range of facilities. These include a medical surgery/pharmacy, a bank, two post offices, fire and police stations and a filling station. There are also two mini-markets, an antique shop, a hairdresser and an art gallery. A mobile library and a mobile cinema visit regularly. There are good hotels and eating places nearby. Dunoon and Rothesay provide wider shopping facilities. Local clubs cater for art, horticultural and craft interests amongst others. Tighnabruaich has its own primary school. Secondary schooling (day and boarding) is available at Dunoon (25 miles). The area offers much in the way of outdoor pursuits and is well known for its natural beauty and dramatic scenery. Description Ardeneden is said to have been originally built in Glasgow in 1850, subsequently dismantled, stone by stone, and shipped by a Glasgow merchant to Tighnabruaich where it was rebuilt. At one time it was owned by the Christian Endeavour organisation, which offered holidays and accommodation for Christians of all ages and denominations, as well as non-christians. Ardeneden is a handsome. three storey villa built of stone under a slate roof and provides excellent family accommodation, with three reception rooms and six bedrooms and the bonus of a two bedroom annexe to the rear.
