NOTABLE FACTS Part of the Los Angeles municipal code requires tall buildings to have a rooftop emergency helicopter landing facility. Upon completion, U.S. Bank Tower was the tallest structure located in a seismically active region (surpassed by Taipei 101). Designed to withstand an earthquake of 8.3 on the Richter Scale. Constructed across the street from the historic Central Library of Los Angeles. Upon installation, the main lobby high-resolution, 10 million pixel, 126 wide x 17 high LED screen will be the largest in the United States. The large glass crown, at the top of the building, can be illuminated with a variety of colors in recognition of seasonal, global, national, or local events. First building to be destroyed by aliens in the 1996 movie Independence Day. In accordance with the 9/11 Commission report, the original plan for the September 11 attacks called for the hijacking of ten planes, one of which was to be crashed into the building.
