ALEXANDER ROBERTSON & JANET McKINNON Alexander ROBERTSON and Janet McKINNON are my 4 th Great Grandparents. Their daughter, Mary ROBERTSON, is my 3 rd Great Grandmother who married Alexander McINNES. ROBERTSON: Origin Scottish) Patronymic name - son of Robert. From the Old German Hrodebert meaning fame, bright. McKINNON: Originally McFingon, the son of Fingon, who was the youngest son of Alpin, King of Scotland Cpt. ALEXANDER ROBERTSON Captain Alexander ROBERTSON was born about 1778 in Lochalsh, Inverness, Scotland to Murdoch & Flora ROBERTSON. He was apparently in the Royal navy with Lord NELSON and Admiral HARDIE. While in the navy he sustained a painful injury, after which he got his discharge and came to Australia and followed farming. (Source: Newspaper Obituary - death of his daughter, Mary McINNES) JANET McKINNON Janet McKINNON was born about 1795 at Strath, Isle of Skye, Scotland to Neil & Mary McKINNON. Alexander & Janet ROBERTSON farmed on the south coast of NSW Australia near Numbaa. Alexander's first wife was Anne McRAE. They had a daughter, Marion

ROBERTSON who was born about 1817 in Scotland. Not sure what happened to Anne, but Alexander then married a second time to Christina on the 23 rd Aug 1826 at Strath, Scotland. Alexander & Christina had two daughters, Margaret (born 15 th Jun 1827 Strath, Scotland) and Flora (born 12 th Oct 1829 Strath, Scotland). Alexander then married a third time to my 4 th Great Grandmother, Janet McKINNON. I gather, that both Anne and Christina died, as when Alexander & Janet immigrated to Australia, Alexander's daughters from his previous marriages came with them. Alexander & Janet ROBERTSON came to Australia aboard the ship "Henry Porcher" and arrived in Sydney on the 4 th October 1840. They came out with the children: Marion, Margaret, Flora, and Janet's children with Alexander, Mary & Anne. Another daughter, Mary, was born in NSW, Australia about 1843. Scotland Occupation: Farmer Religion: Presbyterian Robertson, Alexander Age: 48 Year: 1840 Ship: Henry Porcher Native Place: Strath, Skye, Robertson, Janet Age: 40 Year: 1840 Ship: Henry Porcher Occupation: Farm Servant Religion: Presbyterian

Notes: Son of Murdock and Flora Robertson. Hus of Janet Reel: 1312 (Source: Bounty Immigration to NSW 1828 to 1842) Reel: 1312 Notes: Dau of Neil McKennan & Mary his wife. Wife of Alexr (Source: Bounty Immigration NSW 1828-1842) Alexander ROBERTSON died of old age - 90yrs on the 10 th May 1868 at Numbaa NSW Australia. (NSW Death Reg.6537/1868) He is buried at the Old Numbaa Cemetery (Index No. 38679, Allocation No. 48, General Portion) Janet ROBERTSON (nee McKINNON) also died of old age (age 86yrs) on the 6 th May 1881 at Numbaa NSW Australia (NSW Death Reg.10569/1881) Janet is also buried at the Old Numbaa Cemetery (Index no. 42308, Allocation No. 269, General Portion) Old Numbaa Cemetery developed in association with the private township of Numbaa on Alexander Berry's Coolangatta Estate. Burials began pre-1856 when the civil register of Births, Deaths and Marriages was established. Located on the levee bank on the south side of the Shoalhaven River the cemetery survived the disastrous floods of 1862 and 1870 which demolished much of Terara. I have 1 child listed for Alexander & Anne McRAE:
