PREFACE Sara Louise Stewart, the daughter of John Washington Stewart and Sarah C. Wetherington, lived at 75 Craven Street in New Bern, NC and never married. After the death of her parents, she shared the large home with her sister, Jane Placid Stewart. After the death of Jane Stewart, the home was demolished in the 1960s to make room for the City Hall parking lot on the corner of Craven and Pollock Street. John Washington Stewart was a very successful entrepreneur in New Bern, NC. He purchased the home on 75 Craven Street from Dr. F. W. Hughes. Photograph of the Hughes Stewart Home, circa 1900. The entries and other loose papers appear to be from the 1920s-40s. The bible is in the possession of Tom Faulkenberry of New Bern, NC, as part of his holdings of the estate of Jane Placid Stewart, Sara s sister. Family Record Miscellaneous [Page 6] After Stephen Averett and Rachel Matthews died Harriette Ipock Averett and Solomon Wetherington were married. They had three children: 1) Nannie Caroline married Smith Adams Adkinson Who had one child Harriette Smith married Thomas Dillon, Tuscarora. 2) Oliver Hazard Perry married Nannie Daughety three children: a. Bertha Wetherington married Waldron Street Richardson, Bellair b. Florence Wetherington married Leamon Wetherington c. Julia 3) Duffy Wetherington James Thomas Wetherington and Charlie Ann Averett are buried at Asbury Church Cemetery near Cove City. Harriette Ipock Averett Wetherington and her brother William Averett are buried in the Oak Forest burying ground. Stephen Averett is also buried there. Solomon Wetherington II and Rachel Matthews are buried on Bachelors Creek the old Solomon Wetherington estate near Tuscarora. Think Solomon I is also buried there. Sarah Stewart Howell died November 22, 1923 at 75 Craven Street from Dyphtheria 2 yrs, 4 mos, 24 days. Eleanor Grace Stewart died on October 10, 1927 at 75 Craven Street from pneumonia.
