The Quarterly Economic Commentary (QEC) provides an overview of Scotland's performance, its position relative to the United Kingdom and draws on wide experience to provide a short term forecast of output in production and construction. The QEC is divided into two separate sections. In the 'Commentary' section Institute members look in detail at trends and developments in five particular areas of interest; The World economy The United Kingdom economy Multi-sectoral industrial performance in Scotland The Scottish labour market U.K. regional labour markets The second half provides space for outside commentators to publish the results of work not normally submitted to contemporary academic journals.
