He upset the stall and had to be restrained. Two policemen escorted him home and one of them went on ahead to fetch his wife. His intention was to push the other into the river as he crossed a footbridge. However, as Mary came towards him he became subdued and went home quietly. In later life he became religious, reading a chapter from the bible on Sundays and not allowing any unessential work on the farm. He cut his corn with a scythe and, on his own, would cut about two acres in a day. The corn was gathered into sheaves with a rolling hook and bound together with binds of twisted corn. The sheaves were placed in shocks of six at first and then into handmows of 42 sheaves. He left 500 in his will with various sums to the family including Ned (Edward). Apparently William, the eldest son, was left out of the will and this caused a split in the family. His grandson, William John (Jack) met his uncle William at the hairdresser's one day and there was a reconciliation. 1908: Mary Roberts died and was buried at Mithian Church. 1912: William Henry Roberts died 26 th October 1912 at Mithian and was buried at Mithian Church.
