7 PREFACE The aim of the present Symposium on Complex Function Theory and Applications held between 1 5 September 2007 at Transilvania University of Braşov, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, was two fold: to gather together mathematicians working in the area of Complex Function Theory, as well as to honorthe untimely death of Professor Nicolae N. Pascu, mathematician who brought important contributions in this area, especially in the area of Univalent Functions. We intended this Symposium to be a continuation of the previous International Symposium on Analytic function Theory, Fractional calculus and Their Applications, held between August 2005 at University of Victoria (Canada), which was dedicated to 65 th anniversary of Professor Hari M. Srivastava. We are also happy to see that this tradition is continued, the Symposium being held this year at TC Kültür University, Istanbul (Turkey). We consider that the Symposium was a success, and we would like to thank here again all our sponsors, especially to Mr. Hisayoshi Nishiwaki, and to our host, Transilvania University of Brasov, for making this success possible. We also would like to thank all the participants and the local organizers for creating and maintaining a friendly, academic atmosphere, beneficial for the success of the Symposium. Lastly, but not last, we dedicate all our efforts and endeavors in preparing this Symposium as a last homage to Professor Nicolae N. Pascu, dear father and friend, whose disappearance among our midst left a great empty space in our hearts. You will not be forgotten! The editors, Mihai N.
