5 Please send in your registration forms ASAP for the following classes: Prudy Vannier s egret, Michelle Handley s mixed media class using a Chris Haughey pattern (only 11 registered so far), and Mary Wiseman s magnolia which she designed specifically for our chapter (only 7 registered so far). What s happening so far for 2018? Education Diane Stiller The results of the Big Brush 2018 vote in order of most votes are as follows: Debi Coules 24, Holly Hanley 22, Chris Haughey 19, Maxine Thomas 16, Rebecca Baer 14, Beth Wagner 13, Judy Westegaarde 12, Shirley Koenig 11, Jill Fitzhenry (Jillybean) 11, Debbie Cotton 10, Paula Leopold 4, and Maureen Baker 3. As far as the projects for 2018 that I offered for vote from Donna Roskamp, Sherri Baldy, Mila Marchetti, Deb Mishima, and the Believe bear pattern by Holley Hanley, none of these received a sufficient number of votes to be considered for next year. The free 2018 class using Ros Stallcup s berry pattern which will be led by me received 29 votes, so that will be scheduled for next year. I have contacted Holly Hanley and we are working to secure a date. I would like a committee of about 6 people to help select the projects that she will teach. We need two 1-day projects so I would like about 6 projects to present to the membership for voting possibly at the August meeting and if not, then at the October meeting. Many of you have taken classes from her or have painted so many of her projects that you would know better than I what you would be interested in having her teach. Please let me know by Friday, July 14, if you would be interested in participating on this committee. I will then arrange for a day and location to meet. If anyone would like to check out Holly's web site or books and me a picture of a project that you would like to propose that we consider, then please feel free to do so. I did speak with Debi Coules and though she is interested, she could not commit herself at this time until a few personal issues have been settled. She has asked me to contact her again at the end of July. Learn to Paint Diane Stiller 2017 will be the last year that I serve as Co-Chair with Linda Christopher of the Learn to Paint program, so please consider serving in this position for next year. We will also reduce the number of classes from three to one each year. Paint with Us Diane Stiller Please start thinking about registering for this event; it s really just around the corner. Only 14 people have registered so far. Remember that we are celebrating Decorative Painting month in October. The purpose of the event is to introduce our love of painting to those with little to no painting experience; so plan on inviting friends or family. Nancy Silver will be teaching a Kim Christmas pumpkin pattern on roclon. Originally we were going to have this event at St. Matt s, but are now able to hold it at the Senior Center. The registration deadline is October will be the last year that I serve as Chair of the Paint with Us event, so please consider serving in this position. In addition, instead of holding it every year, it will be held every odd year so 2019 will be the next one. The Fall Retreat will be held on the even years so we don t have two big events towards the end of the year. 5
6 Education Diane Stiller Mark Menendez s classes were very instructive. It was very interesting to learn his quadratone method to select 4 color pencils within a color family and his geometric grid to learn how to draw. We all had a great time working on our projects and many people were happy with the results of their portraits. Raffle winners: Margaret Pedersen $30 purchase credit and Joan Mueller $15 purchase credit. 6
