President s Report was a wonderful year with four teams playing finals, finishing with two premierships. I would like to congratulate the premiership teams Under 14 s and First XVIII s. The future is looking bright with the Under14 s going back to back and huge congratulations to Wayne and his staff for keeping the momentum going after Spud s fine work over the years. It was a mammoth effort training and encouraging 30 plus boys each week. It was two years of hard work for Macca and the team, with the reward being winning the premiership in the First XVIII s. The blooding of our local juniors, the return of some experienced Osborne guns and the recruitment of a few talented footballers from down the Hume Highway made for a great Premiership year. The standard of the HFL just seems to be improving each year with the last two finals games being absolute crackers. I would like to run through a few other highlights: Unveiling of new football jumpers, in particular the visit by Max Brown. Many thanks to Laurie and Suzanne Sly, and Liz Lane for organising the new jumpers. Landmark, Kennedy Earthmoving and Mortgage Choice for coming on board with sponsorship for our new jumpers Thank you. Upgrade of the kitchen facilities Our social activities in particular bonfire night and Osborne s Got Talent. Kieran Gleeson, Fran Jones and Simone Alexander receiving volunteer awards from AFL NSW Andrew Schmetzer being awarded HFL Coach of the Year 2012 Osborne players representing HFL in Interleague games Bill Alexander being selected to represent to NSW in Under 13 s at national carnival Osborne Rec Ground committee receiving grant from Lockhart & District community bank and NSW Government thanks to Graham and Leanne Howard for their ongoing work applying for grants and to Spud who works tirelessly on our wonderful Osborne facilities. The huge turnout for vote count and presentation Thanks to those family members who were there to present awards on behalf of their families. Osborne has a longstanding tradition of family and we are pleased to be continuing this tradition. Special mention to Eliza and Malcolm Clark who presented the inaugural Charlie Chook Doig award for Most Improved and Determined to the First XVIII s. I would like to congratulate all the award winners from presentation day. As a team sport we recognise that the team goal is the most important but individual awards are a great achievement and I wish you all continued success in the future. I would to like to thank and congratulate Daniel, Jai, James, Wayne and Craig for their commitment and dedication during the course of the year. The Osborne community thanks you for all your hard work. Congratulations to all who have made 2012 a success, from the hard working committee, the coaches, the players, trainers, managers, runners, umpires, water boy, grounds keepers, scoreboard attendants, ladies auxiliary, volunteers, sponsors and supporters the club championship belongs to you all WELL DONE was a testimonial year for GT as a club we would like to acknowledge the contribution he has made to build our great club. We hope we can publically celebrate his great achievements in I would like to thank the outgoing committee members for their hard work and dedication to our football club, in particular to Col Bahr and his family their out-

standing work as treasurer. Thanks to Pat Madden for his ongoing advice with seed and chemicals for the ground. I would like to thank my family for their ongoing support and patience during the year. As a club we must not take our facilities and success for granted. We need to work hard to fundraise for our ongoing costs as well as improvements to our facilities such as new goals posts and a new mower. In closing I would like to encourage everyone to continue with the culture of a family club and strive to achieve great success both on and off the field, and enjoy our great community. Jason Gooden President Thanks everyone for their support and help throughout the year with catering for a wedding, birthday parties, meetings, clearing sale, funeral etc, and all our work on game day at Osborne during the season. The highlight of 2012 was the renovation and renewal of our kitchen, which a visit from white ants brought forward earlier than expected. After lots of decisions of where to put appliances and what colours we liked for the bench tops, flooring etc, and with a window of five weeks for installation of the kitchen, we are very lucky to now have a fantastic kitchen, which will be the envy of many! Thanks to Russell and Silva for their hard work and to all volunteers who have made this possible., We are extremely pleased with the end result, which will make catering on game day, and for events at Osborne much easier for all the workers. Thanks again, and no doubt another busy year is ahead in 2013 with the renovation and extension of our Pavilion. Thanks to Debbie (Treasurer) and Liz (Secretary) for their help and support during the year. The Ladies Auxiliary look forward to the continued support of all in the new year. Judy Hamson President Ladies Auxiliary Rec Ground Report What a busy year it has been down at Osborne this year. A lot of work goes into keeping the ground and facilities maintained to keep them looking as good as they do and working as efficiently as possible. Some of the improvement and maintenance works that were carried out this year include. New water pump for showers and main pavilion, thanks to Jason Gooden who found time during harvest to purchase and install the new pump. The front gate painted and netball posts and seats painted. Spraying of weeds New soil and grass planted in front of play ground. New lights on netball courts and reposition old netball lights onto back of pavilion and to old light tower. Fix guttering on old shed. A lot of work went into trying to get the gas heaters working as well as they should. (A big thank you to Peter Gleeson for his efforts into keeping them working) Unfortunately these 30 year old heaters may have run their race and we may have to look at replacing them for next season.

White ants found their way into the internal walls of the pavilion which caused a lot of heartache and concern for everyone involved. The solution was to do Stage 3 of the pavilion upgrade as Stage 1. Luckily the Ladies Aux had the funds and now we have a brand new, state of the art, highly efficient kitchen. Well done girls! It great to see your hard earned money go to something so worthwhile. New sewerage pipes at the back of men's toilets ( This was done on the Tuesday after mad Mon day, and it was hard to get help from the footballers!) A new shelter shed has been erected for the netball club. (A big thank you to Andrew Hunter and his crew at Proway, Andrew s generosity is very much appreciated by everyone involved with Os borne.) We are in the process of reclading the two netball interchange sheds as well as the gate shed in new colourbond steel which was kindly donated by Daryl Nowland of Metroll steel in Wagga. Metroll also donated the colourbond for the netball shelter shed. There have been many other smaller jobs carried out though out the year, too many to mention, but thanks to everyone that has helped out. We must all thank Garry O'Connell and his helpers for the work they do in keeping the Osborne ground in such great condition. A playing surface like the one we have at Osborne takes a lot of hard work and commitment, so well done to all those involved. I'm sure there is no better surface in the Hume League The Lockhart Shire Council must also be congratulated for the work they do in helping to keep the car park and surrounding area mowed and maintained. Graeme and Leanne Howard took on the job last year to apply for grants as they become available. From their hard work and many long hours filling in applications we were successful in gaining a grant of $50,000 from the Department of Sport and Recreation. This grant has been matched dollar for dollar by the Ladies Auxiliary. These funds are going towards Stage 2 of our pavilion up-grade. This involves extending the hall area to double it size. This upgrade will start in January 2013 and we are in the process of obtaining Council approval. We are also in the process of purchasing the materials for this project and with volunteer labour working with the builder we should come in well under budget. Sharee Scholz has also played a big part in all the planning, Sharee has done all the drawings, and with all the changes that have had to happen to fit into Council requirements this job became bigger then expected. Thanks Sharee, you been such a big help. So if you have time to spare in January, February, March next year, put your hand up to help out as the more money we save in Stage 2, the closer we will get to having the funds to do Stage 3 in I'm also very pleased to announce that we have just received a grant of $20,000 from the Bendigo Community Bank in Lockhart. This grant will go towards Stage 3. How great is it that a small local Bank can be so generous. Let s make sure that the Osborne community get behind the Bendigo Bank and support them wherever possible. The Osborne Netball Club also have worked very hard in saving up a large amount of money for Stage 3 of this project, so hopefully if we are successful with some more grants, support from the Lockhart Shire Council, and a lot more hard work we will have the funds to complete Stage 3 in I must also mention that the Netball Club had the idea of the pavilion upgrade as they are very much in need of a much larger shower and toilet block, but unfortunately they have had to wait a lot longer then expected, I thank you girls for your patience and understanding of the problems we have had along the way, but remember that good things come to those that wait! Liz Lane (Secretary) and Roger Schneider (Treasurer) of the Osborne Recreational ground must also be commended on the work they do in there respective jobs. Well done guys, your efforts don't go unnoticed as the community knows just how much goes into these jobs. Well done and thankyou. Jason Webster President

Seniors Premiers 2012! SENIORS Back: Shayne Weidemann (Ass Coach), Robert O Connell (Ass Coach), Peter Heath, Trent Perczyk, Stace Creasy, Rory Muggivan, Jamie Parr, Ben Davis, Simon Lane, Damon Sly, Hayden Gleeson, Martin Bahr, Steven Crowhurst, Andrew Clarke, Andrew White, Luke Heyme, Max O Connell (Manager) Front: Daniel McAlister (Coach), Anthony Armstrong, Nicholas O Connell, James Creasy, Daniel O Connell, James Kennedy, Adam Gooden, Matt Clarke, Tom O Connell, Fran Jones (Trainer) Absent: Leigh Schneider After almost 10 months of hard work and planning, blood sweat and tears, battered bodies and broken bones, we found ourselves being defined as a team in the last two hours of the Hume League season. We found ourselves up against a formidable opponent in Henty, who as a team and a club, have raised all facets of the League to a new level. Osborne finds themselves in unfamiliar grand final territory, as over whelming under dogs! Both sides play an exciting brand of football, and is a great reflection of how much the profile of the Hume League has lifted in the past couple of seasons. All previous games to date have been played in great spirit, and only a couple of kicks have separated the teams on the past two meetings. May I take this opportunity to thank all my players this season, for their commitment and efforts. My on field leaders in Hayden, Jamie, Peter and Marty. The people too many to mention in this forum, who dedicate so much of their time and energy, in getting all our teams on the oval and the courts each and every week. To Jo and the kids for their unconditional support, and finally my two unbelievable Assistant Coaches, your MILESTONE GAMES dedication and commitment are overwhelming, thank Seniors Games Rd V you for your support Nobby and Weids. It also helps when you have a great bunch of kids, parents and football club. The year has been a very successful year to date and hopefully we can finish it off with a premiership today. 22 Netball To all the Coaches - Sarah Kennedy, Nadine Douglas, Paula O'Connell, Melissa Heyme, Debbie Bender, Helen Schmetzer and Liza Gooden, your dedication and support you have given our netball club this season has been wonderful. You have all done a great job, which on behalf of the players, we thank you very much. Thank you also for coordinating your team's elected fundraising event. I think it worked well doing it this way. To the team managers - Melissa Galvin, Annie Scholz, Dominica O'Connell and Anne Madden, Catherine O'Brien, Maryanne Chant, Jenny Smith, Bonnie Schneider and Leanne Howard - a big thank you to you all. To all the Umpires - Thank you all for volunteering your time (although you were rostered to do it!!!) to umpire this season. Hopefully next year we will conduct more umpiring clinics to develop umpires knowledge and skill base so more people will be confident and competent to umpire the higher grades. We have a lot of potential showing already from some players who should make wonderful umpires one day. To the players - thank you for playing at Osborne this season - especially to all the new faces around the club. I hope you had an enjoyable season. The large numbers didn't seem to be a huge problem as many weekends some teams were short! Thanks also to Jason Webster and Andrew Hunter for helping put the wheels in motion to improve and renovate our netball sheds around the courts. METROLL have kindly agreed to sponsor ONC by donating the colourbond materials to update the sheds. To our major sponsor - the NSWNA - thank you very much for your ongoing sponsorship of our club. Your support has helped the club significantly, and hopefully people are considering nursing as a profession after seeing your advertisement at our ground and in our crier. SALON ON MORGAN again has sponsored our mugs this season for which we really appreciate. I hope most of you got a chance to drink out of them this season!! A special mention of our PERPETUAL TROPHY SPONSORS - Lockhart Ex-Servicemen's Club (A Grade), Regional Imaging Riverina (B Grade), Birallee tavern Wodonga (C Grade), Hore and Davies RURAL (C Reserve), Intermediates (Lockhart IGA), and Juniors (Delta Ag). Finally - to our Netball Executive - Liza Gooden (Sec), Nicole Kelly (V/P), Michelle Gleeson (Treasurer), Liz Lane (Publicity Officer) and Jenny Smith (Registrar) - thank you all for your hard work and dedication you have given to our Netball club. You certainly make my job easier. Tania Gleeson President ONC

Ted retired from football in 1969 after playing over 500 games, mostly at fullback. Ted was President of Osborne Football club during 1959 and 1960, a delegate to the Hume League, and for many years held official positions at Hume League finals. He was also scoreboard attendant for almost 20 years. He captained Osborne form 1946 until 1949 winning two Best and Fairest awards in the Milbrulong and District League in 1946 and 1947, and a Best and Fairest award in the Central Riverina League in Chook was again Secretary/Treasurer of the Club in 1955 and He again won consecutive Best and Fairest awards in the Central Riverina League in those years, making a total of five best and fairest awards in ten years. He was a member of the 1937, 1938, 1940, 1950, 1957 and 1958 premiership teams. Chook retired from football in 1959 after 25 years. He continued to be actively involved with the Club until his retirement from the farm, and subsequent move to Albury in Charlie was awarded Life Membership of Osborne Football Club in He was also involved in Osborne Cricket Club and was awarded Life Membership of that Club in Charlie is the only person to have the honour of being Life Member of both Clubs.
