Good luck to everyone whatever colour you are wearing. This special event would not happen without an immense amount of preparation and organisation behind the scenes by coaches, selectors, umpires and race officials and, of course, not least by the Organising Committee. The south side of the course will be closed to unauthorised users from half an hour before racing starts until half an hour after racing has finished. Cyclists etc. must give way at all times to pedestrians and service vehicles of the Regatta. Points, Trophies and Medals Points for each race shall be awarded as follows: 1st--4 points; 2nd-3 points; 3rd-2 points; 4th-1 point. No points are scored by a crew that is disqualified, or that fails to complete the course by reason of its own accident. Crews dead-heating will share the points for the places involved (e.g. equal 1st means 3% pts each. Circulation Patterns Note that lakeside markers count down from the Start (2000m) to the Finish (Om) Practice Circulation Pattern This applies at all times other than during racing. The lake must be clear by 1000 hours (30 mins before racing is due to start). The lake will open at 0830 hours and close at the end of racing. Competitors from the winning crew in each event will each receive a medal, which will be presented on the Presentation Jetty immediately after their race by Martin Brandon-Bravo OBE, Honorary Life Vice President, British Rowing. The following challenge trophies, lent by the countries shown, shall be awarded to the teams scoring the highest total in the relevant sections. In the case of a tie, the trophy shall be awarded to the team with the greatest number of first places. If a tie still results, the trophy shall be awarded to the team whose Eight occupies the higher position. Men Women Junior Men Junior Women News of the World Cup (England) The County Renfrew Rosebowl (Scotland) The Duncan Trophy (Scotland) The Irish Travel Agency Cup (Ireland) Banquet The Home International Banquet for competitors, coaches, officials and invited guests will be held in the Atrium at the East Midlands Conference Centre at 1930 hours, which will include the presentation of the trophies. Points of Danger 1. The pontoons on the side of the course past the Finish Tower and in front of the new boathouses should not be used by any crews apart from Para-Rowing crews. 2. Para-Rowing crews will use these pontoons and will proceed up the course in Lane 1 for practice sessions. 3. Para-Rowing crews will then use Lane 2 to row back to the finish area for practice sessions. 4. Static crews in Lane 7 must be aware of the potential danger of being blown into the racing Lane 6 if there is a cross wind. Crews stopping in Lane 7 are advised to stop close to the bank. 5. At the start crews must keep into the bank whilst waiting to be called to their race and must stay clear of the 100m Start Zone. 6. Crews must take particular care when crossing the course to get to their allocated lane. 7. Crews must take particular care in the finish area to avoid collisions with other crews that have just finished, have been cooling down or that are returning from the presentation raft. 8. During practice sessions Lanes 1 and 2 are reserved for Para-Rowing crews. 9. An anti-clockwise circulation pattern will be in place around the presentation raft.
