1 ASKEW, REBECCA holds the position of Senior Director, Legal Services at Cadillac Fairview and has been with the company since Her practice encompasses all areas of commercial leasing matters, including lease negotiations, interpretation and enforcement for premier retail and office assets located in Canada. Rebecca also handles various corporate and operational matters, including drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements. As in-house counsel, Rebecca understands risk management, business practicalities and working towards an organization s broader goals and objectives. BANKA, JEANNE is a partner in the Toronto firm of Daoust Vukovich LLP, a commercial leasing law boutique, where she practises exclusively in the area of commercial leasing on behalf of landlords and tenants in retail, office and industrial properties, including sale/leaseback arrangements. Jeanne graduated from the University of Toronto in 1974, Osgoode Hall Law School in 1977 and was called to the Ontario Bar in BEALLOR, KEN is a partner at Torkin Manes LLP and a member of the firm s Commercial Real Estate Group. Ken specializes in commercial leasing and the sale, acquisition and financing of commercial property. He acts for leading developers, retailers, landlords, and tenants in retail, office and industrial properties, including leasing of build-to-suit office and industrial properties, shopping centre leasing and acting on sale and lease-back transactions. BESNER, YAN is a Partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt and practices real estate, banking and commercial law from the firm s Montreal office. Yan represents lenders, property owners, developers and other commercial clients in the financing, development and acquisition of immovable and movable assets. Yan regularly represents national and international retailers and franchisors in the context of their commercial leasing needs as well as institutional entities and developers in the acquisition, disposition and financing of real estate assets. Yan has been recognized by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2016, as repeatedly recommended in Property Leasing and by The Best Lawyers in Canada since 2015 in the area of Real Estate Law. BOGLER, YAEL is a partner in the Commercial Leasing and Real Estate Law practice groups at Owens Wright LLP. BORSOOK, LISA is the Executive Partner, former Managing Partner, and Chairperson of the Commercial Leasing Practice Group at WeirFoulds. Lisa uses her extensive management, legal and business experience to run her vibrant practice that includes regional, national and international clients with retail, industrial, office and brownfields properties. Lisa is repeatedly recognized as a leading practitioner in leasing, including receiving the 2014 OBA Award of Excellence in Real Estate. Under her leadership, WeirFoulds experienced tremendous growth and industry recognition. As one of the first women managing partners, she brought women in the workplace, diversity and community issues to the forefront, and continues to champion these causes. She has been inducted into the Women's Executive Network's (WXN) Top 100: Most Powerful Women in Canada Hall of Fame, and has received the Zenith Award, Laura Legge Award, and the ICRF Women of Action Award for achievements in business and law. 2 BURGOS, RICHARD is a partner with the firm's Business Law Group in the Montreal office, to which he contributes his extensive experience in leasing matters, real estate development and real estate financing. He is listed in the 2017 edition of Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in the field of Corporate Law. CHAIMBERG, STEVEN specializes in real estate law and has been practising in the field of commercial leasing and real estate for more than 30 years. He has substantial experience with landlord-tenant relationships, and represents both lessors and lessees in the preparation and negotiation of offers to lease, leases, lease assignments, subleases, and other related documents. He delivered leading edge designs and strategies, new corporate image, integrating the IGA acquisition into Sobeys and the launch of a new National Prototype 60,000 sq. store, created the new Babies R Us/Toys R Us combo store prototype. He selected and tested four markets and achieved sales increase of almost 40% in the first pilot in May 2003, within 24 months, the combo store model was adopted and rolled out in the US and globally. He re-branded over 300 Milestones, Swiss Chalet, Montana s, Kelsey s and Harvey s, across Canada. Paul is a member of a leadership team that created the roadmap for the development of the national Store of the Future, at Canadian Tire. He delivered the National 361 store Lighting Retrofit Program that converted energy efficient T-8 lighting fixtures. This $45M program delivered over $12.6M in energy savings annually/ He developed, designed and implemented a strategic plan for the completion of a $50M, multi-use waterfront project, negotiated funding and approvals from all three levels of government, private sector and developers. Paul led and delivered the new design, development and construction of MM Food Markets new state of the art head office and delivered over 69 new, renovated and rebranded stores in 12 months 2016 for MM Food Market, he created and led new external and internal national team, processes, procedures and structure to deliver 75+ projects per year steady state MM Food Market. DISENHOUSE, SHELDON is a partner in the commercial leasing practice group in the Toronto office of Dentons Canada LLP. His practice focuses primarily on all aspects of commercial leasing including retail, office and industrial leasing. GALESSIERE, LINDA is a partner in the Litigation practice group at McLean & Kerr LLP Linda s practice focuses primarily on corporate commercial litigation, property leasing disputes, and retail bankruptcy and insolvency matters. She advises and litigates on behalf of commercial landlords and tenants in all matters arising out of leasing contracts including the interpretation and enforceability of leases, termination and repudiation of leases, proper distress procedures, construction lien matters and environmental issues. Linda is a sitting member of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada working group reviewing and drafting commercial tenancy legislation for adoption by all provinces in Canada. GANG, ADAM is a seasoned, multi-disciplined real estate profession with an emphasis on luxury retail tenant representation. Adam began his real estate career assisting his father looking for locations for the family automobile business. After graduating from Union College and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Adam embarked on the second phase of his real estate career in the Real Estate Law Department at Gap, Inc. in San Bruno, California. From the Gap, he went to work in the Real Estate Department at Morrison Cohen for three years, under the tutelage of Andy Bank, one the preeminent real estate attorneys in New York. At Coach, Adam was responsible for the repositioning of Coach within the retail marketplace and led both the business and legal real estate functions for Coach and its brands. In 2015, Adam took on the role of Director of Real Estate for Apple in the Americas where he was responsible for the Western half of the United States and all of Canada for the business development of Apple stores. GRIGNANO, JOSEPH practises real estate law with a specialization in commercial leasing matters. He acts for several prominent owners, developers and tenants, and has worked on transactions that have been awarded "Deal of the Year" honours by the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP). He has also worked on transactions that have been reported as the largest commercial lease transactions in the city of Toronto for the year in which they were completed. Joseph is recognized as a leading real estate and commercial leasing lawyer in the 2017 Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada (Property Leasing), Best Lawyers in Canada 2016, Who's Who Legal: Real Estate 2016 and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2016 (Consistently Recommended). HITCH, CELIA is a lawyer practising in the field of commercial leasing. HOROWITZ, MICHAEL is a partner with the Commercial Leasing Group at the law firm Minden Gross LLP in Toronto. Michael s practice focuses primarily on commercial leasing transactions, including drafting and negotiating retail, office and industrial leases and ancillary documentation for landlords, tenants, subtenants and other parties across Canada. Michael also acts for individuals and corporations on real estate transactions and various commercial matters. Michael was a longstanding member of the planning committee for the annual ICSC Canadian Law Conference and served as Co-Chair of the conference in 2008 and Michael has also participated as a panelist, moderator and round-table leader for the ICSC Canadian Law Conference. She formed Kampler Advisory Group in 2012 to provide opportunistic value-add advisory services to the retail real estate industry. From 2010 through 2012, she was Senior Managing Director of CBRE s Retail Services Group, managing the New York Tri-State retail brokerage platform and heading the Urban Retail Group in the Americas, integrating the high-street retail practice across the US with the practice groups in Europe. Prior to CBRE, Ms. Kampler served as Executive Vice President for Hilco Real Estate from 2004 to She directed their strategic retail and corporate solutions group and led retail business development. Ms. Kampler collaborated with major national and international retailers and commercial companies to implement real estate portfolio restructuring strategies and includes Starbucks, Tumi, and GEOX, amongst her clients. Previous to that, she spent 16 years at Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation, serving as their Vice President, Retail and Real Estate Counsel. In that capacity, she negotiated all store and corporate real estate transactions throughout the U.S. and Canada. She also held the position of acting General Counsel for Club Monaco. Previous to Polo Ralph Lauren, Nina practiced law at Coudert Brothers and Richards & O Neil, both in New York. Ms. Kampler is a member of the ICSC US Law Conference Committee, the Advisory Board of the Georgetown University School of Law Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute, and the Board of Governors (founding member) of the National Retail Tenants Association. She has also served as Associate Dean of the School of Retailing of the University of Shopping Centers at Wharton. KENNEDY, MICHAEL is a partner at Patterson Law in Halifax. He has been practising in excess of 30 years with particular emphasis in various corporate/commercial transactions, including acquisition, financing and leasing for large commercial enterprises and lending institutions, and P-3 developments and financings.
