8 external donor, Robert Ortblat. Intended to provide a historical perspective to large- scale infrastructure projects including discussion of historical projects, recent past, and contemporary construction. Course development in Summer 2015, potentially implemented Spring Served as a Teaching Technology Fellow (along with Kate Simonen) during the academic year. Fellowship involved intensive week- long session at beginning and end of Summer 2014 to familiarize with the Canvas learning platform. Led implementation of hybrid course in Fall 2014 (Architecture 320), and several reach- out sessions to share knowledge with other faculty & students. Served as advisor for revision of Technical Issues in Historic Preservation, with graduate student Brian Rich. Updating course material for offering potentially in Spring Implemented a new interdisciplinary course with the departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, tentatively titled: Integration of BE Systems. This seminar/ lecture course seeks to explicitly address the need for coordinating the complex systems that operate within a single building. Mimicking the professional design environment, this course brings together different disciplinary fields highlighting mutual dependencies and the necessary communication needed for collaboration. This course is a first step towards more integration between connected fields, and will be offered for the first time in Spring Development and execution of new course titled Structural Re- use (Arch 498) offered as a technical elective within the Department of Architecture. Open to architecture and engineering students, this course addressed the technical issues of seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings and how to integrate them with new architectural interventions. Guest speakers, and construction site tours enriched the quantitative calculations and qualitative decision- making involved. Summer 2011 Preliminary organization of a joint Master s of Science program between the Department of Architecture and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (Structural Emphasis). This joint degree would provide a framework for interested students to attain an interdisciplinary degree, reflective of the technical and cultural demands of designing the built environment. Through sharing and coordinating existing classes, both departments stand to better prepare their graduates for the professional world, as well as foster new research opportunities. Preliminary contacts: Greg Miller (Civil), John Stanton (Civil), Laura Lowes (Civil), Rob Corser (Arch). Student Advising/ Thesis Guidance Winston Davis (Committee Member, MS in Design Computing), Department of Architecture, Winter 2016 Brian Rich (Committee Member, one- year Masters of Architecture), Department of Architecture, Fall 2015 Hung Viet (Graduate School Representative (GSR), Ph.D. Committee Member), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Fall 2014 Gaby Alban- Hidalgo (Thesis Advisor, Undergraduate Honors Student), Department of Architecture, Spring 2014
