Research Activity In relation to the scholarship (v.infra) by Centro Studi sull Innovazione Finanziaria (English translation: Research Center on Financial Innovation) (NEWFIN) of Bocconi University of Milan, during the academic year she studies the consolidation process of the Italian banking system and the valuation of Italian banks. In relation to the scholarship (v. infra) by Istituto di Ricerca sulla Dinamica dei Sistemi Economici (English translation: Research Institute on the Dynamics of Economic Systems) (IDSE) of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (English translation: National Research Council) (CNR) of Milan, in 1998 she studies the resource allocation in large business groups and the equity and control structures in systems of small and medium-size firms. Between April 1997 and December 1997 she holds a Research Contract at Istituto di Ricerca sulla Dinamica dei Sistemi Economici (English translation: Research Institute on the Dynamics of Economic Systems) (IDSE) of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (English translation: National Research Council) (CNR) of Milan with the aim to contribute to the research project titled: Competitiveness Indicators and Equity Structures in Systems of Small and Medium-Size Firms. The research carried out during the (i.e. the Ph.D.) time period regards the extent of business groups in Emilia Romagna. In particular, the aim of the research is twofold: first, to assess the diffusion of business groups within Emilia Romagna s industrial districts. Second, to investigate the reasons for their formation and development. Since January 2003 she has been member of a research group of the Department of Management Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Bergamo on local economic development and the determinants of regional competitiveness.
