The Wesley & Ina Belle (Helms) Carr family lived just up the road from the Denny farm. Wesley was 30 yrs. old and Ina Belle was 28 yrs. old when they moved there. Their children, Minnie was 9, Arah 7, Joe 6 and Ora 4yrs. old when they started to live by the Virgil Timothy Denny farm. My father, Tim Denny s/o Virgil Timothy & Audra Camilla (Anderson) Denny, grew up with the Carr s children and they all went to school together. They went to a one room school house called Denny s Seminary that was pretty close to their house. On the farm the Carr family tiled the soil and grew corn, wheat, potatoes, tobacco & other crops. The Denny farm was a success because of the hard work of the Carr family. The Carr s were the sweetest bunch of people you could ever meet. After researching family lines I found that they were cousins of my father, Tim Denny. William Kinchen was residing in Isle of Wight County, VA before He patented 170 acres in that county in 1715, another 100 acres in 1724 and 140 acres in He was member of the vestry of the old brick church near Smithfield from 1724 to his death. He was sheriff of Isle of Wight County in (VA Mag. 34, pg. 201). He was also Justice of Peace in the County as William Byred when he was surveying the line between Carolina and Virginia, stayed at William Kinchen s home, and spoke of him as a worthy magistrate living in much affluence. William Kinchen married Elizabeth Ruffin, daughter of Robert Ruffin of Surry County. He made his will August 13, 1734 and the same was probated July 28, After his death his wife married Richard Cocke of Surry. (See VA Mag. 5, pg 73).
