The Atlas Building will be the tallest in Tech City, rising 152 metres above City Road. Due for completion at the end of 2018, the residential tower is a collection of 302 highly specified apartments, including studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses. Between the 30 th and 36 th floors there will be 33 premium apartments and on the 37 th and 38 th floors there will be four penthouses, including one duplex. The project, which is replacing a 1980s office building, is being developed for its client by Rocket Investments, a private property development and investment management company with a strong track record of delivering successful mixed-use schemes in and around London s Tech City and Shoreditch for a variety of client portfolios. The scheme creates a valuable mix of residential, commercial and business accommodation that will establish an exciting new destination in Shoreditch. Standing on the axis of Shoreditch, Islington, Farringdon and the City, The Atlas Building is an exciting new destination at the heart of London s most stimulating neighbourhood. The Atlas Building stands apart, epitomising the area s creativity and culture, energy and entrepreneurship. Location The Atlas Building at 145 City Road is in a convenient and buzzing Zone 1 location, known for its enterprise and verve. Just 200m from Old Street, The Atlas Building is at the centre of London s Tech City, which sits alongside San Francisco and New York as one of the largest technology clusters in the world. In recent years Tech City has undergone significant redevelopment, with investment from companies such as Cisco, Facebook, Google, Intel and McKinsey & Co.
2 Directly fronting City Road, the building is in a prime position to access the diverse areas of Shoreditch, Islington, Farringdon and the City. The Atlas Building is less than a five minute walk to Old Street station for connections across London via the Northern Line and National Rail station. Local Amenities Shoreditch is an exceptionally popular area that has undergone major regeneration in recent years and is constantly evolving, with new shops, restaurants, cafés and bars appearing all the time. Nearby restaurants offer outstanding global cuisine, from world-renowned fine dining to quirky eateries and experimental pop-ups. Architectural Design The bold design responds to the spirit of innovation that is transforming this part of London, offering a fitting contribution to the character and image of this rapidly evolving area. MAKE Architects is the concept design architect.
3 The distinctive 40-storey tower is the scheme s defining feature and an iconic landmark for Shoreditch, forming the head of a cluster of tall buildings addressing Old Street roundabout. The tower s dramatic form is composed of 12 stepped architectural blades that emphasise the verticality of the structure, giving it a slender, sculpted profile. On the building s upper segment, setbacks are introduced at every two floors along each architectural blade to create an elegant, terraced rooftop. A subtle materials palette white and light grey terracotta panels in a combination of glazed, semi-glazed, matt and textured finishes introduces an interesting patchwork effect across the facades. The windows are highlighted with a dark anodised aluminium finish, with a contrasting light champagne colour adding emphasis to the balconies. The elevations of both buildings have been designed to respond to the amount of solar radiation hitting the facades, while still ensuring correct levels of daylight penetration. The Atlas Building has been designed so that all apartments are positioned to give a double aspect outlook, creating high levels of natural light. All apartments will have a balcony and the penthouses will have balconies and a terrace. The 40-storey tower has spectacular cityscape views across the City and the West End. Interiors & Specification The apartment and amenity interiors draw on the energy of Shoreditch to offer an authentic, yet refined, living experience that resonates with this dynamic quarter of London. The interiors at The Altas Building by global design consultancy, Woods Bagot draw on the energy of Shoreditch to offer an authentic and refined living experience that resonates with this vibrant and exciting part of London. The interiors have been inspired by the lifestyles of the people who will be inhabiting the building the design process has focused on understanding how residents will use the space in order to enhance their living experience. The apartments have been designed with a focus on functionality, as well as style, making them practical to live in while still allowing residents to imbue the spaces with elements of their own personalities. A natural palette with rich and robust materials, such as hardwood timber and ceramic tiles, gives the apartments a strong yet subtle style. Apartments feature high-quality fixtures and finishes throughout, including:
4 - Hardwood timber flooring in entrance halls, kitchens and reception rooms - Bespoke kitchens with composite stone worktops and integrated Siemens appliances - Luxury broadloom carpets and bespoke fitted wardrobes in bedrooms - Full body porcelain tiles with feature glazed ceramic tile walls in bathrooms The interiors of the communal areas including the lobby and residents lounge have been designed to provide an element of privacy within the public spaces through screening and separate seating areas. Building Services & Amenities The Atlas Building has hotel-style amenities and services. The building contains an extensive range of amenities and services for residents, including a gym, spa, swimming pool, cinema room, 24-hour concierge and security and a private residents lounge. The concierge will be on hand 24/7 to provide a comprehensive lifestyle service from booking theatre tickets and restaurants to arranging homecoming food, cleaning and home repairs. Located on the ground floor, the 15-metre swimming pool benefits from natural light. And towels will also be provided. The building will feature the latest technology, including a residents property portal, cinema room and high speed broadband (available from the day you move in). Public Realm & Commercial In addition to the residential tower, the new public piazza and over 90,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space will create a vibrant community. Over 35% of site (0.33 acres) has been dedicated to improving the public realm. There will be a public piazza between the residential tower and the 10-storey office building that will form a new pedestrian link between City Road and East Road. Shops and cafés bordering the landscaped piazza will enliven the area, creating a dynamic destination for people to live, work and socialise; there will be a total of 9,000 sq ft of retail space. Across the piazza from the residential tower, on the north of the site, there will be a 10- storey office building with a ground floor retail unit this is likely to be a restaurant. Designed by architect Buckley Grey Yeoman, the commercial development is due for completion at the end of 2017.
5 At the corner of the site there will be additional retail/restaurant/café/gallery space in the form of a glass cube, which will be a vibrant hub and meeting point for the residents, local workers and visitors.
