2 Overview County of Simcoe is the direct owner and manager of Simcoe County Housing Corporation (SCHC); provides social housing to seniors, families and individuals Transferred from Province (Ontario Housing Corporation OHC) during local services realignment in 2000 Ontario is unique in this manner as all other provinces still retain ownership and control of provincial corporations Allows Ontario to have special local solutions and control at municipal level Housing units are primarily rent-geared-to-income; RGI tenants pay rent based on their income SCHC currently owns and operates 1,315 RGI units, and 79 affordable units, county-wide, and maintains a Centralized Waitlist for RGI assistance across Social Housing System

24 Wasaga Beach County engaged all Municipalities to participate in Call for Proposal (CFP) to develop affordable housing in partnership with SCHC Intention to get lands and/or other financial incentives to create affordable housing at lower cost The support and proposals were overwhelming (6 municipalities with 11 site proposals) Staff undertook rigorous evaluation process Wasaga Beach site was recommended and approved by Council for complete preliminary design and costing Council also approved some basic preliminary design work and costing at 2 sites in Bradford-West Gwillimbury and one site in Penetanguishene
