Town Planning Information Permitted It was confirmed by the municipal town planning department in Sasolburg that Kragbron forms part of the Urban Development Zone of Sasolburg. The local authority however does not supply any service delivery to the town and incorporation of the town into the Sasolburg municipal area is a medium to long term project. Locality Page 5 Kragbron is a small township that was previously owned by Eskom. The town is located approximately 8km south of Sasolburg on the R82 Main Road and easy access is available via a well maintained road network. The area is mainly surrounded by commercial farming activities. Kragbron was developed and previously used as an Eskom power generating plant and staff accommodation. No municipal services are available to Kragbron and the town is self-sustainable in terms of sewerage disposal. Investec Bank Limited purchased the properties during November 2010 and the Bank has subsequently outsourced the daily operations and rent collection functions to an independent company. Kragbron comprises six adjoining farm portions that are well improved, which are described as follows: a. Description of land i. An application for subdivision of Portion 7 and registration of the Kragbron Extension 1 and Kragbron townships has been submitted to the Surveyor General (Bloemfontein) and has been approved on 8 January 2009 and 9 January 2012 respectively (please refer to Annexure D). Streets 11 stands Kragbron Extension 1 provides for a total of 256 stands. Applications for the proposed townships have been submitted to and approved by the office of the Bloemfontein Surveyor General but have not been registered yet. ii. iii. Portion 1 of the Farm Taaiboschpruit 205 Heilbron RD This a narrow farm portion on the western boundary of Portion 2. Portion 2 of the Farm Taaiboschpruit 205 Heilbron RD This portion offers natural pastures with a number of ruins. b. Residential improvements Kragbron and Kragbron Extension 1 There are a total of 459 existing dwellings located on the two proposed townships. A dwelling audit was carried out by Kragbron Housing during July 2011 and the results are regarded accurate. The majority of these dwellings are currently being rented to local residents and the dwellings offer a combination of brick constructed and prefabricated asbestos dwellings. The residential component is divided into two sections, known as Highveld and Taaibos.
