What rle d histrical legacies, path dependence, and past critical junctures play in cntemprary plitics? What are the best methds fr illuminating the influence f the past? What des it mean fr a plitical phenmenn t persist? We explre these and related questins thrugh clse examinatin f an eclectic array f schlarly materials.
