Mr. Davis Rhrer thanked the Luisiana State Museum fr hsting the meeting and intrduced Divisin Directr f the museum, Mr. Bill Stark. Mr. Davis Rhrer infrmed the Cmmissin that the Metrplitan Cuncil will cnsider budget supplement actin items n the fllwing prjects July 25, 2012.

Develpment Initiatives Dwntwn Greenway Planning Grant The Cmmissin viewed, via PwerPint, a phtgraph f the prpsed greenway. Mr. Nrman Chenevert infrmed the Cmmissin that the East Batn Ruge Mrtgage Finance Authrity bard has agreed t help fund the gap fr the planning f the Dwntwn Greenway. They are currently wrking ut the terms f the mney transfer. Mr. Rhrer cmmended Mr. Chenevert fr his assistance and infrmed the Cmmissin that this is an imprtant prject fr PBR II implementatin and the DDD strategic plan. There is currently have $1.4 millin t implement Phase I f the prject and cnstructin plans fr the entire Greenway. Nrth Bulevard Twn Square Update (NBTS) The Cmmissin viewed, via PwerPint, an image f highlighting the lcatin f the prpsed imprvements. Mr. Gabe Vicknair briefed the Cmmissin n the fllwing items t be included in Phase II f NBTS. Imprvements n the nrth side f Nrth Bulevard between Third and Furth (City Club, Dean Plaza, Eatn prperty) Imprvements n the bulevard east ne blck t 5 th St. and west ne blck t River Rad frm the existing Twn Square wrk. This is funded by $1.9 millin in Transprtatin Enhancement Funds frm DOTD. Establishment f the St. Phillip St. Prmenade. The pavement used n the prmenade will be similar in nature t the Shaw Plaza brick wrk. The designers, Dana Brwn Assciates / Jey Furr Design Studi are wrking n the final drawings which will be submitted t DOTD fr review. They will review and advertise fr bid this next phase f the prject. Repentance Park Update The Cmmissin viewed, via PwerPint, a phtgraph f the current cnstructin site. Mr. Gabe Vicknair infrmed the Cmmissin that the Metrplitan Cuncil apprved $325,000 in sales tax rebates fr riverfrnt imprvements t Repentance Park. The funds will be used fr undergrund bstructin change rders, lights in the funtains, seating and ther accessries as called fr in the plan. Cmpletin date fr the prject is Nvember 2012. Dwntwn Anti-Litter Initiatives The Cmmissin viewed, via PwerPint, a phtgraph f the Keep Batn Ruge Beautiful lg and images f litter dwntwn. Mr. Davis Rhrer infrmed the Cmmissin that Batn Ruge will be expsed internatinally with the upcming Internatinal Planetarium Cnference. In preparatin fr the arrival f the cnference, area rganizatins alng with the City f Batn Ruge Department f Public Wrks and the Batn Ruge Plice Department are addressing issues such as litter, landscape maintenance, and public safety t ensure that ur city and dwntwn is presented in the best pssible light. The DDD sent an email t dwntwn stakehlders requesting them t be mindful f the cleanliness f their strefrnts and businesses as well as thrwing away litter as we walk dwntwn. Keep Batn Ruge Beautiful is planning a dwntwn clean up n Saturday, July 21. Ms Gwen Emick infrmed the Cmmissin that the clean up will be held frm 8am 10 am and vlunteers are t meet at LASM.

Mr. Wilkinsn infrmed the Cmmissin that Jimmy Jhn s will be lcating in the Third St. parking garage in late fall 2012. Mr. Chenevert annunced that the East Batn Ruge Mrtgage Finance Authrity will be re-lcating dwntwn at 601 St. Ferdinand Street. The space is currently under renvatins and plans are t mve ffices by September 2012. Ms. Chris Nichls annunced that the Bald Eagle Pub is nw pen at 140 Main Street, the frmer Thirsty Tiger lcatin. Strategic Plan Plan Batn Ruge II The Cmmissin viewed, via Pwer Pint, a phtgraph f the PBR II cver. Mr. Rhrer briefed the Cmmissin n the fllwing recmmendatins in Plan Batn Ruge 2 (PBR2) that are being implemented: The state will bid ut imprvements at the Shaw Center fr the Arts later this mnth and included will be the new marquee entrance at the Hartley Vey Studi frnting the Twn Square n Nrth Bulevard. This prject will directly align with the St Phillip St. pedestrian prmenade and Repentance Park. The prmenade will als be used by service vehicles and staff t the Old State Capitl. The cnnectivity f the St. Phillip St. prmenade will be a pwerful implementatin feature f PBR2 and will ffer a pedestrian experience unmatched in linking sme f BR s starring civic and cultural attractins (Shaw Center fr the Arts, Nrth Bulevard Twn Square, new Library, Galvez Plaza, Old State Capitl, Repentance Park and the Batn Ruge River Center). New green vistas and crridrs fr the dwntwn highlight the Central Green cncept f PBR2. This crridr will be an amazing transfrmatin f public space emphasizing the cnnectivity as called fr in PBR2 and FutureBR. When funds becme available, the City Hall Plaza redesign and the demlitin f the ld Municipal Building int a green space will cmplete the piece f the Central Green Dwntwn Greenway will link t this develpment and carry this 'green link' t ur inner city neighbrhds further cnnecting these neighbrhds t dwntwn and the Twn Square. Ms. B Thmas requested that everyne cntact their cuncil member and encurage them t supprt the budget supplement items fr dwntwn. Ms. Thmas cmmended Mr. Rhrer n his cmmitment t dwntwn and implementatin f PBR2.
