The castle was sack by the Sienese in a battle in the 1230, while in the 1268 it was occupied, together with others locality of the chiantishire by the French troops guided by Carlo d Angiò. Radda underwent a new occupations and a new sack during the second Aragonese invasion in 1478. Radda was the main town of the Chianti s League, comprising Radda, Gaiole and Castellina. By the end of the XIIIth century it became seat of a podestà named by Florentine and in 1415 Radda was confirmed the main town of the League. In the XVIIth century castles became luxury villas in which the owners produced wine. In the seventy years the rediscovery of these places became and castles, villas and farm have been renovated.
