Invited ASC Speakers Prof. Chandra SEKHAR National University of ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer Dr Chandra Sekhar is currently a Professor and Programme Director (M.Sc Building Performance and Sustainability) and Co- Director (Centre for Integrated Building Energy and Sustainability in the Tropics) in the Department of Building at the National University of (NUS). He is also a Founding Director of Enhanced Air Quality Pte Ltd., a NUS Spin-off Company incorporated in June 2004, arising out of his research in the fields of indoor air quality (IAQ) and Energy. He has been an IAQ consultant in since 1993. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia, and continued as a postdoctoral fellow at the same university until 1991 where he worked towards the continued development of energy efficient cooling and dehumidification systems. In 1992, he joined NUS as a Faculty and has since been teaching and conducting research in the area of ventilation and indoor air quality, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, building energy analysis and has published about 200 papers in these areas in several international journals and conferences. Dr Junjing Yang obtained her PhD in building at National University of,, and MSc from the University of Reading, UK. She is now a Research Fellow at NUS majoring in the research and application of building energy data analytics and retrofitting. Dr. Junjing YANG National University of Dr. Yang has rich research and application experiences in computational fluid dynamics, indoor air quality and thermal comfort. Dr. Yang has published her research findings in several prestigious International journals and conferences. She has been an invited speaker to share her research and application activities with international participants in ASHRAE annual conference. She has been engaged as a regular reviewer for Energy and Building Journal. Dr. Yang is an active member of ISIAQ and ASHRAE. Currently she is playing multiple significant roles in Grass-root and CTTC committees of ASHRAE. David Edenburn is currently employed as Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) Consultant for Commtech Asia, an engineering firm specializing in MEP Commissioning based in. He has been involved in over 30 projects in ASEAN as either Commissioning Authority or LEED-AP. Prior to moving to David Edenburn was a Licensed Building Inspector in Louisiana, USA. For six years he owned a business specializing in international standards and codes. He has served on over 25 international technical committees writing the standards for construction, electrical codes and safety standards for consumer products. Prior to working in green buildings, David Edenburn was a chemical engineer for nearly 30 years. Mr. David L. EDENBURN LEED-AP, GMM, CPMP, CFPS, CBI David Edenburn s current interests and projects involve the standards and documentation of green building design and commissioning. He is a member of ASHRAE TC7.9 on commissioning standards and SSPC 202 working on the development of ASHRAE Standard 202.
Invited ASC Speakers Mr. Alvin CHAN has been in the HVAC industry and practicing his engineering for the last 16 years. He spent about 10 years working in Trox Malaysia and Trox Dubai, UAE as a technical specialist in both air and water product. Later he moved on to KTA Tenaga Sdn Bhd, a reputable M&E consultancy company in Malaysia as a Senior Engineer, leading a team, specializing in innovative, cost-effective solutions to his clients. Alvin s current employment is with Belimo Actuators Limited, a subsidiary of Belimo Automation AG, Switzerland. His position is Regional Application Consultant, Belimo South East Asia. Alvin is involved in the development and study of Belimo Energy Valve in NTU,. This project involves researcher s from NTU and Belimo employees from Switzerland, including Dr Marc Thuillard who jointly wrote the paper on Energy Valve in 2013. Mr. Alvin CHAN Beng (Hon), Certified GBF, Associate Member of ASHRAE Dr. Yuichi Takemasa is currently a Chief Research Engineer of Kajima Technical Research Institute. He graduated from The University of Tokyo in 1989 and earned Master of Engineering in 1991. He has been working for Kajima Technical Research Institute (KaTRI) since 1991. He has been a member of Kajima Technical Research Institute (Ka- TRIS) since its establishment in September 2013. He was concurrently assigned to Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zürich) as Visiting Researcher from 1997 to 1999. He earned Doctor of Engineering in 2007 from The University of Tokyo. He was also Adjunct Lecturer of Tokyo University of Science from 2008 to 2013. He has been conducting research and consulting work on indoor environment and energy conservation in buildings. His specialty is especially indoor thermal environment, HVAC systems, thermal performance of facades, natural ventilation, stack effect in high-rise buildings, macroscopic simulation models, CFD, HVAC design in offices, factories, plant factories, etc. Dr. Yuichi TAKEMASA PE (USA), PMP, APEC Engineer (Environmental), PEJp (Environmental Engineering / Comprehensive Technical Management) Kelly Williams is Business Development Manager for the Asia Pacific Region for Big Ass Solutions. As Business Development Manager, Mr. Williams works directly with architect and engineer firms, along with professional organizations, such as the American Institute of Architects, ASHRAE, Hong Kong Zero Carbon Building and both the and Hong Kong Green Building Councils. In collaboration with the aforementioned institutions, Mr. Williams seeks to promote the usage of using elevated airspeed in conditioned spaces, as highlighted by ASHRAE Standard 55, by delivering AIA, GBCI, PDH and IDCEC accredited seminars. Prior to joining Big Ass Solutions, Mr. Williams worked for Verizon in the United States, assisting to build and strengthen their Machine-to-Machine infrastructure throughout the Midwest region. Mr. Williams received his B.A. from Berea College and M.A. from Yonsei Graduate School of International Studies in Seoul, South Korea.
