Central Oshawa GO Station In June 2016 the Provincial Government announced the approval of the Lakeshore East Go Train Extension, which includes new GO Train Stations in Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville. This extension will connect East Durham by rail to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scarborough, Downtown Toronto, and the rest of the GTA. As part of this extension, a GO Station and Multi-modal Hub has been proposed by Metrolinx for the former Knob Hill Farms site. This development will integrate bus, rail and vehicle travel, and spur gentrification of the surrounding Central Oshawa neighbourhood. Anticipated Project Completion: 2023 Land Area: ~24 acres (GFA): Unknown, project is still in design stages Estimated Project Economic Value: $1.1 billion in transit-oriented, walkable urban development Estimated Jobs Generated: 21,000 permanent new jobs

General Motors In September 2016, General Motors announced an investment of $424 million for upgrades at the Oshawa assembly plant. Production of the Chevrolet Impala, which had previously been scheduled to terminate in 2019, has been extended indefinitely. As well, the Cadillac XTS production, which had been scheduled to end in 2018, will also be extended indefinitely. NORTHWEST OSHAWA Journal Entry Content Map Content Pictures Oshawa Executive Airport Oshawa Executive Airport is taking flight, with heavy private sector investment - hangar space is up 260% in the past 10 years, and another 30% increase is projected in the next 5 years. This would increase total hangar space from 270,000 square feet currently to over 350,000 square feet. With the closing of Buttonville Airport in Fall 2017, Oshawa Airport predicts corporate travel will increase 150 percent in the next 5 years, increasing from 3,500 movements a year to 8,800. Durham Learning and Business District (dlab) dlab is a partnership of developers, universities and local governments. The announced Thornton Corners GO Train station will connect dlab to both Downtown Oshawa and the entirety of the GTA. Thornton Corners GO Station In June 2016 the Provincial Government announced the approval of the Lakeshore East Go Train Extension, which includes new GO Train Stations in Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville. This extension will connect East Durham by rail to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scarborough, Downtown Toronto, and the rest of the GTA. As part of this extension, a GO Station has been proposed by Metrolinx for the lands north of Champlain Avenue on Thorton Road South. This Go Station will integrate bus, rail and vehicle travel, and spur development of the adjacent Durham Learning and Business District.
