2017 Leadership Academy About the Leadership Academy The PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. Leadership Academy is a program is designed to train emerging REALTOR leaders who want to get involved, make a difference, grow their businesses and expand their leadership skills. The goal is to prepare graduates of the program to become volunteers and committee chairs and prepare for potential future leadership positions on the Board of Directors. Who is eligible? All REALTOR members in good standing are eligible to apply to the Leadership Academy. What is required? In order to graduate from the Leadership Academy, participants must demonstrate a commitment by completing all assignments and attending ALL of the mandatory dates listed on the schedule below. An excused absence will only be accepted under extenuating circumstances and approved by the Leadership Academy Committee. If you are unable to attend or will be late for a particular session, you must inform the Leadership Academy Chairperson in writing in advance of the session. If a participant is unexcused for more than one session, he/she will be terminated from the program and offered the opportunity to reapply the following year and forfeit the application fee. Unexcused absences include, but are not limited to, vacation not planned and excused prior to acceptance into the program or working on real estate deals. Please plan accordingly. Participants will be required to participate in a community group project. Participants must also attend and participate in at least one PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. sponsored fundraiser or community event and attend a local city, county or other meeting. Look at Association calendar for dates and events and/or weekly updates in your email from Linda Pizarro, Chief Executive Officer. Participants must pay the required non-refundable tuition at time of acceptance into the program. Attendance will be taken at all sessions. Participants must be in attendance for the entire session of all days for attendance to count. 1

Be prepared to give a 3-5 minute speech in July with your summary of the meeting and what you learned from it. Attend and participate in at least one PGPCNP Association of REALTORS Inc. sponsored fundraiser or community event during the duration of the Leadership Academy from March 29 to December 8, 2017. Read the book The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership Note: All meeting dates will be held at the PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. unless otherwise indicated in Bold. 2

What are the benefits to the participant? Graduates of the Leadership Academy will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to excel as a leader in the community as well as in the REALTOR organizations. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the organizational structure of all three levels of the REALTOR association (local, state and national) and the challenges of leadership. The Leadership Academy provides an opportunity to ask direct questions, meet current REALTOR members and key community influencers, and come to understand how the organization strives to provide advantages to members in a changing marketplace. As a participant, you will be immersed in a classroom setting, group sessions, team building exercises, goal setting, networking techniques and communication skills. This is not a program to learn how to list, sell and finance real estate or any of the functions of your daily real estate activities. The intent of the Leadership Academy Program is to prepare participants for service to the PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. and beyond. Graduates of the program should be fully prepared and able to commit their time and themselves towards committees, task forces, work groups, directorships and any other needed leadership roles within the Association. Leadership Academy Member Conduct REALTORS are in a relationship business. Those relationships are built by being considerate, respectful and collaborative with peers and staff. Be aware that what you say and do reflects upon the program, as well as yourself. Participants in the Leadership Academy are ambassadors for the PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. and are expected to conduct themselves in a way that promotes the professionalism and values of the PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. This includes, but is not limited to moral integrity, use of good judgment, professional appropriate attire, and being smart about your social media presence. Speakers and paid presenters are brought in specifically for the Leadership Academy. House rules are that cell phones and other electronic devices are to be put away and/or put on silent during all sessions. You will be afforded breaks during sessions and that is the time to conduct real estate or personal business that may arise. Volunteer Opportunities at the PGPCNP Association of REALTORS, Inc. What is the application process? For 2017, a maximum of 10 members will be selected from a list of candidates, who must submit a written application. Finalists will interview for a spot with the Leadership Academy Selection Committee. In addition to completing the questions, applicants should attach a current resume to their application and obtain a statement of support from your managing Broker unless you are a Broker.
