PROJECTS Heritage on the Merrimack Bedford, NH For this developer I completed a property assessment package that was part of their due diligence on a 250 apartment complex in New Hampshire. Extensive repairs were required that needed to be detailed with costs understood prior to purchasing this property, my work save the owner nearly 1 million dollars and gave them the confidence to purchase the property. Marthas Vinyard Residence Edgartown, Ma Most important to this owner was taking full advantage of the ocean views, having comfortable spaces for family and friends, and minimizing the scale of this grand home. The 5,000 s.f, 5 bathrooms, 5 bed room home should be complete summer of 2011 and the owner cannot wait to enjoy it. Brewery Lofts 251 Heath Street, Boston, Ma - Provide condominium documents for all 84 units, measure, document, and produce legal plans for file at the registry of deeds and to facilitate sale of the units. Stromski Residence, Melrose, Ma This family was outgrowing their dated bungalow and needed more space. The renovation that took place added a mere 600 s.f. of new space but organized the existing space so that it feels much larger and flows better. The interior of the house has been transformed with 2 new bathrooms an amazing kitchen, a family room, and new kids playroom at the first floor. Bath Residence Charlestown, Ma This young family was searching for a way to remain in the city with a new baby on the way. By expanding the basement and first floor footprint of their row house we were able to carve out a new kitchen, kids playroom, mudroom, and connect the 1 st floor and basement with an open stair that makes their small house live large. Kuniholm Residence Back Bay, Ma This bachelor needed to upgrade his small 1 bedroom apartment from a bad 70 s renovation. By removing a few choice walls and adding a sliding wall between the bedroom and living room this space was opened up seem larger. Modern finishes were incorporated including glass tiles, bamboo floors, and Marble countertops. High end appliances and lighting added the finishing touches. Brown Residence North End This penthouse apartment at the Strada Building had one of the best views of Boston but had substandard finishes and the layout was poorly planned. With a few minor tweaks to the layout, an upgraded stair, and a new kitchen and bath the elegance of the space now matches the wonderful views. The tub overlooking Boston Harbor is a feature the owner especially covets. McWhinney Residence Design and construction documents, consulting, and construction administration services for a 3 bedroom 3 bath gut rehabilitation of a Beacon Hill penthouse apartment. The scope included new custom steel and wood stair, new kitchen and baths, new laundry room, and reclaiming an under utilized loftarea, the transformation is incredible. Baseler Residence New home, Stoughton, Ma A brand new home for a single client, by carefully analyzing the program we were able to apply Not So Big principles and fit all modern amenities into a tiny footprint of only 1,150 s.f. on 2 levels. Passive solar, passive cooling, super insulation, and a unique radiant floor heating system make this custom home truly unique. PG. 2
Sgroe Residence South Egremont, Ma This Berkshire vacation home had almost everything you d want for your family getaway home but needed just a little more space for those last minute guests. A master suite POD was added to this home to free up an additional guest bedroom along with updating all of the interior paint, finishes and kitchens and baths. Peckler Residence Newton, Ma Provide design services for new addition for this tudor style home. The Scope included a new access stair from the garage, a new home office, a renovated kitchen, and a new family room area adjacent to the kitchen. This addition had to blend seamlessly into the historic fabric of the surrounding neighborhood. Christopher Heights Marlborough, Ma - Provide architectural services for a new assisted living facility including programming, Schematic design, Design development, and Construction Documents for this 80 unit, 4 story building. Brewery Lofts 251 Heath Street, Boston, Ma - Provide condominium documents for all 84 units, measure, document, and produce legal plans for file at the registry of deeds and to facilitate sale of the units. Catch Restaurant Winchester, Massachusets Design and Construction Documents for expansion of this award winning restaurant in Winchester center. The scope included redesigning the dining area and replacing all finishes, lighting, and introducing a new wine room to the restaurant. Moore Residence - Melrose, Massachusetts - Design and Construction documents and project management for 800 square feet of space including a new kitchen, mudroom, breakfast room, and 2 bathrooms in a 1920 s brick center entry colonial. Winkelmayer Residence - Boston, Massachusetts - Design and Construction documents for a 1,000 square foot renovation of a Back Bay penthouse apartment, including a new kitchen, bathroom, heating/cooling system, and office area. Gavini Residence Wareham, Massachusetts - Design & Construction Documents for a 2,500 s.f. Addition and Renovation of a waterfront home. This project is designed to accommodate 4 generations of a family under one roof for family events and includes a new kitchen, 4 new baths, a new guest suite, a new living area, an elevated deck with commanding views of buttermilk bay, and 3 new bedrooms. Avalon Bay at Chestnut Hill, Newton, Massachusetts Avalon Bay Communities owns and operates 150 apartment communities containing over 43,000 apartments in 10 states. The project in Chestnut Hill contains 2 buildings, 2 levels of underground parking, and over 220 apartments. I was responsible for a team of six, effectively communicating with the client, and taking the project from Schematic Design through Construction Documents. The Pier at Caesars - Atlantic City, New Jersey This 900 ft. long pier stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean and contains over 400,000 square feet of entertainment retail and restaurants. The project is located next to Caesars Palace and includes a performance space for daily performances as well as a gondola to transport people from the casino to the shopping center. As a staff architect, I contributed to various phases of this project including clearing regulatory hurdles by preparing a zoning package and helped to bring the project through design development. The Brewery Lofts - 251 Heath Street, Boston, Ma The Brewery Lofts are located in the Jamaica plain neighborhood of Boston. Originally housing the American Brewing Company the building was adapted into a condominium project with 79 loft units. Combining new construction with the old was the challenge here. My responsibilities included schematic design documents along with a Draft Project Impact Report required by the city of Boston for regulatory approval. Belmar - Lakewood, Colorado Belmar is a New Urbanism development located10 miles west of Denver, the 100 acre site includes housing, shopping and business uses at a former underutilized mall site. Buildings 7M-1, 7M-2, 7M-4 These buildings are mixed use housing projects with retail at the first level and 2 to 3 stories of housing above, responsible for Schematic Design through Construction Administration of all 3 buildings. Building 6M2 The centerpiece of the development. This $13 million, 96,000 square feet of retail, dining, and catering center also houses a 16 lane bowling alley. I was responsible for documents relating to Schematic Design through Construction Documents. Trilogy - Boston, Massachusetts The Trilogy Residential Development is located at the corner of Boylston Street and Brookline Avenue adjacent to Fenway Park. The project contains over 600 residential units, 35,000 square feet of active retail space at street level and approximately 500 parking spaces on 3 levels of below grade parking. I was responsible for much of the documentation and drawings needed to push the project through the regulatory hurdles at the Boston Redevelopment Authority. I followed the project through design development to the bidding phase. Millennium Pharmaceuticals - 35 Lansdowne Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts Project Designer 35 Lansdowne Street was developed as the corporate headquarters for one of the country s leading biotechnology companies. The building contains 215,000 square feet on seven floors. The ground floor incorporates public functions for the campus including a cafeteria, library and formal lecture hall. I was responsible for Schematic Design through Construction Documents and the coordination of the exterior shell package. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care - 1600 Crown Colony Drive, Quincy, Massachusetts Base Building 1600 Crown Colony Drive was a new construction office building built to house the corporate headquarters of this HMO. The building contains a state of the art training and conference center, a full-service cafeteria, an exterior dining terrace, and a convenience store. My responsibilities as project architect included Schematic Design through Construction Administration of the entire shell/core as well as coordinating with the interior build out package. 900 West Park Drive - Westborough, Massachusetts This building was a speculative office building located in an established office park. The client required a design that was flexible for single and multi-tenant, cost effective, and attractive. I PG. 4
was responsible for production of Design Development and Construction Documents for this 193,000 square foot building. Putnam Investments 2 Liberty Square and 1 Post Office Square, Boston, Massachusetts 2 Liberty Square was leased and renovated to house several of Putnam s key financial departments. I was responsible for everything from Pre- design through Construction administration for this 60,000 s.f. interiors project. Putnam s Video Conference Center was built to aid in communication between Putnam s investment managers spread throughout the country this was achieved through a state of the art video conference center that seats 80 in stadium style seating. My responsibilities included integrating the myriad of technology in this room into the architecture in a clean and palatable way. This project encompassed only 1,000 square feet but in the end cost over $3,000 per square foot due to the complicated technology integration. Digitas Prudential Tower, Boston, Massachusetts The design of Digitas new headquarters began with 128,000 square feet on five levels of Boston s Prudential Tower. As project architect it was my responsibility to take the concepts learned in the first phase and implement it for two more floors totaling 54,000 square feet. PG. 5
