TARONJA POLICY FAMILIES FAMILY RULES Please, read this rules carefully in order to have a better relationshiop between families and students while living together. ARRIVAL One week before the beginning of your course TARONJA will send you your accommodation details (family name, address, phone...). Please do not forget to tell us your arriving date and time at least one week before coming, so that we can inform the family and make sure that they will be waiting for you. You will be given a house key for your use while you are living there. Please take good care of it and do not keep it together with the address of the accommodation. If you loose the key you will have to pay for a total door lock change. CLEANING The family will provide the student with sheets and towels and will change them once a week. The family will clean the apartment and the student s room once a week. However, students must keep their room tidy and clean at all times. FOOD The weekly menu will be varied. You can choose between Half Board (breakfast & dinner) or Full Board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) The breakfast in a Spanish family will not be as the breakfast in a hotel. Breakfast in Spain consists of a drink (coffee, milk or juice) and something to eat such as bread toasts, cereals or biscuits. Special diets: Before students arrive, they have to inform TARONJA if they follow any diet, due to health, religion or other reasons. If the student needs special products different to the usual of the family the student should buy it himself or herself. TIMETABLE The time for lunch and supper will be established by the family. The student should respect it. If the student can t go home for lunch or dinner (or if he/she can t arrive on time), he/she will have to inform the family in advance. Live with a Spanish family 1

LIFE TOGETHER Home stay is not like living in a hotel. Please remember you are a guest in your host home and that you will be treated like a member of the family. You should treat all house members with courtesy and respect at all times. Please keep your room and bathroom tidy, leaving things chaotically and untidy is unpleasant for all family members. Try to take advantage when you eat with the family to practice your Spanish telling your stories to them. Students have to respect the hours in which the family is resting. They can t put on the radio, TV or make telephone calls after 23:00. If students want to use their computer they must keep silence. Students can t bring visits home. Only in cases of illness they can ask the family if they could have a visit. USE OF THE KITCHEN AND TELEPHONE -Students are NOT allowed to use the kitchen for cooking. It s not possible. The student cannot take food from fridge or the cupboards. -Students can t use the telephone. Calls will only be made to TARONJA if the student is ill, in order to advise that he/she is not going to attend classes. Before making this call the student will ask the family. Students can receive calls until 23:00. No telephone calls are permitted during the night. Students should advise their parents about the local time. Please be aware that the phone is the home phone, so the family needs to be able to make and receive calls. Please do not stay on the phone for more than 10 minutes. CONSUMPTION OF ELECTRICITY Students have to moderate the consumption of light and water (for example, they have to switch off the light when they go out of the room). It is permitted to use personal sets like a hairdryer; if they need to use other sets, they should ask the family first. USE OF THE ROOM Students will maintain an acceptable level of order in their room. Leaving clothes on the floor is unpleasant for everyone. They should also maintain an acceptable level of hygiene and order in the bathroom. Students can use the living room or other common spaces while respecting the customs of the family. USE OF THE WASHING MACHINE Students can wash their clothes twice a week in the washing machine. One with white clothes and another with colour clothes. The family will administer the washing machine. If students need to wash their clothes more than twice a week, they should ask the family and make an additional payment. Please do not expect your host to iron your clothes. IN CASE OF PROBLEMS If there s a problem between student and family, both parts should contact TARONJA immediately, avoiding such conversations between them. You must remember that if you inform the school on time, it will be easy to solve any complicated situations. 2

DAMAGES If you break or damage anything, tell your host family as soon as possible and offer to pay for it. EXTENSION OF THE STAY If a student wants to extend his or her stay at the host family he or she should contact the school. The school will process the extension of the stay. CHANGES Only in special situations will the student be allowed to change the host family. Changes of accommodation will be made on the Sunday of the following week and it will incur a cost of 50. Any accommodation change that requires moving the same day will incur a cost of 120. Students enrolling in TARONJA and selecting family accommodation AGREE with all things mentioned above. TARONJA POLICY APARTMENTS *PRIVATE STUDIOS APARTMENTS / *PRIVATE STUDIOS RULES Please, read this rules carefully in order to have a better relationship between all members living in the apartment. ARRIVAL Students that book a TARONJA apartment should arrive on Sunday before the beginning of the course, always before 23:00. Students arriving after 23:00 must book and pay the TARONJA airport transfer service. Students arriving before Sunday, should pay the fee for the extra nights. TARONJA will send you the name, address and telephone number of your accommodation 1 week before your arrival. Do not forget to communicate, one week in advance, the stipulated time of your arrival at the accommodation in order to inform the owner of the apartment. You will be given a key of the apartment for your use while you are living there. Please take good care of the key and do not keep it together with the address of the apartment. If you loose the key you will have to pay for a door lock change. DEPARTURE The student should leave the apartment on the next Saturday after the course ends, before 12:00. If the student wishes to stay for extra nights he or she will have to discuss this with the school and pay for the extra nights. USE OF THE APARTMENT You have the right to be in your room, bathroom, living-room and all the shared spaces. You have the right to use the kitchen, a shelf on the refrigerator and the washing machine (1 white 1 color per week). The student must observe the rules of hygiene and follow the directions given by the owner of the apartment. *In the cases of a private studio, all of the rooms in the studio are exclusively for the use of the student. LOGIC USE OF BASIC SUPPLIES The price of the rent includes the expenses of electricity, water and gas. The student will use these moderately in order to avoid the unnecessary consumption of energy and water (TARONJA is concerned with the environment and with the energy saving). For example, students should switch off the lights when they leave a room, not leave the water running, etc. Shared apartments provide WIFI and heating, but NOT air conditioning. *Private studios provide air conditioning as well as heating and WIFI. Shared apartments 1

BEHAVIOUR - It is not permitted to make noise in the apartment after 23:00. After 23:00 any neighbor can call the police making a complaint, if this happens the fine imposed has to be paid by the students living in the apartment. - Students cannot host other people in their rooms; If you wish to have any visitors you must inform the school and pay for accommodation like the other students. - Sharing an apartment is NOT like living in a hotel. Please, remember that you are sharing the apartment with other people. You should treat all roommates with courtesy and respect at all times. - Please keep your room and bathroom tidy. Leaving things chaotically and untidy is unpleasant for the rest of the people. - If there s a problem between a student and owner, both parts should contact TARONJA immediately, avoiding such conversations between them. -You must remember that if you inform the school on time, it will be easy to solve any complicated situations. CLEANING -Students will be provided with bed sheets once a week. -The room will be cleaned before the first day, but after that the student is in charge of maintaining the cleanliness of their own room. -In the apartment, a weekly clean will take place ONLY in the communal areas such as the bathroom, living room and the kitchen. -Each student is responsible for not making a mess of the communal areas given that they are living with other people, they must clean after themselves immediately after cooking and eating, they should leave the bathroom in a good state after using it, and they should not leave the living room in disorder. -Students who live in a flat must take out the bin daily to avoid hygiene problems; we recommend to take it in turns between the house mates. -Cleaning and bathroom products are not included. -On the day of departure the student must take out all of their food from the kitchen. *Private studios will receive a complete weekly clean DEPOSIT Students will pay a deposit of 50 in cash on the first Monday at the school, and will be given a receipt. This deposit will be returned on the last Friday of the course when the student gives back the receipt. THE DEPOSIT WILL NOT BE RETURNED if the student causes any damage due to the wrong use of the installa- tions. TARONJA will keep part of the caution that is needed to repair the installations. If the damages are serious, TARONJA can reclaim the student the needed amount to repair it. EXTENSIÓN OF STAY If a student wants to extend his or her stay at the apartment he or she should contact the school. The school will process the extension of the stay. CHANGES Only in special situations will the student be allowed to change the apartment. Changes of accommodation without a justified reason, will be made on the Sunday of the following week and it will incur a cost of 50. Any accommodation change without a justified reason that requires moving the same day will incur a cost of 120. Students enrolling TARONJA and selecting Apartment accommodation AGREE with all things mentioned above. 2
